  • Okay okay, we'll be the first to say, our kitchen isn't the prettiest aspect of our house. So this post isn't going to be so much of a kitchen tour and more of our thoughts and reflections of our kitchen. You'll notice from previous posts that our home doesn't come with a service yard. Which makes our kitchen seem especially small.
  • Here is a before photo of what our kitchen looked like during the renovation process. Noticed something different? If you said the tiles are different, you are completely right. Scroll to the next photo to see the image that inspired us to select baby blue tiles 🤦🏻‍♂️
  • SO PRETTY RIGHT! But sadly as you saw, the tiles we selected did not match the photo at all! Tip 1: When you go tile shopping, please understand more about the lighting conditions of your home vs the lighting in the tile shop. When we were browsing for tiles, the blue on the tiles appeared sooooo much lighter! In hindsight, we realised that the shop had strong and heavy spotlights shining on the tiles to help make them pop! Which is why, when our contractor installed our tiles, we were appalled by how dull it looked, nothing like what we had in mind. If you can get a sample tile from the shop, that would really help, you could bring it to your home and compare it against the lighting of your new home. Anyway, after much consideration and several sleepless nights, we decided to tear down the tiles, even though they were fully installed. We also didn't want to risk making another poor colour choice, as such we decided to do what was safe and painted the kitchen walls white and paired it with some white tiles.
  • Tip 2: Don't skimp on things that you need to use on a daily basis. We bought our sink set from shopee, which is significantly cheaper than any set we saw in physical stores. Although we really love this sink and the cool functions it has, we noticed some minor rusting around the sink despite claiming to be stainless steel. Looking back, perhaps we should've spent that extra couple of hundreds getting something of higher quality and less prone to rusting.
  • We really love this water jet that comes in our sink set. In fact it's always a conversation starter when we host our friends and everyone ends up wanting to wash their cups and play with the jet.
  • Our sink also has the ability to swap between 3 spraying options...this one is our fav:)
  • We debated whether or not to get a fire stove top or a conduction stove top. Ultimately we decided to get the conduction because of our space constraints, the conduction stove will allow us to utilise more space for chopping and prepping when we aren't using the space to cook. We find this super useful due to the limited space of a 3 room BTO
  • We hope you managed to have one or two takeaways from our kitchen renovation. We know this is quite a short post, but we really don't have much to show you guys in our kitchen. If I had to use two words to describe our kitchen, it would be "minimalist" & "Functional". Thank you for reading up to here, you a true one 👊🏼 See you in our next post.
