    • Hi everyone, back again with another showcase! Here’s a peek into our master bathroom — compact but designed with intention. We kept the original layout as per the BTO floor plan to avoid major hacking, but made thoughtful design choices to make the space work for us.
    • And for reference, here’s how the space looked before. While the layout remains exactly the same, the choice of carpentry and opting for a clean, rimless glass panel made a huge difference.
    • We used the same wood laminate for all our carpentry to create a consistent look throughout the home. Our (less-than-ideal) ID had originally re-proposed full mirror cabinets, but I opted for a single mirrored panel paired with open shelves to switch things up a bit. Honestly, it’s been a great choice — the shelves help keep the countertop clutter-free, and they double up as a handy spot to place clean clothes before a shower!
    • In the shower area, we added two quartz floating shelves for our shampoos and facial wash. But do note that these aren’t ideal to place heavier bottles, like those 1kg body wash! So please keep that in mind if you're planning on having something similar!
    • Behind the door was the most optimal position to place our towel racks but this tight space really brought out the crazy metrician in me. Initially thought to only be able to fit a single towel rack, I was determined to find a dual rack with the right depth to fit neatly into the recessed gap behind the door. Safe to say, it was a small but very satisfying win.
    • Lastly, not sure if it’s obvious to you, but one detail still bugs me to this day — the grout lines doesn't align with the shelves.. They could have been seamlessly tucked behind the shelves, but it wasn't.. By the time we noticed, it was already too late to make any changes. That said, we made sure to align the quartz shelves in the shower area with the wooden shelves outside, so they still look visually cohesive from a distance. This is definitely something your ID should flag to the tiler before installation starts, so if you're renovating, be sure to bring it up early!
