  • Welcome back to @nestandcoop! 🐓 We’re giving a mini house tour of this 5-room resale HDB unit today and sharing what changes we made to our original house layout. 🏠
  • This is the original floor plan that we worked with. We have a very nice longish rectangular space, and wanted to retain most of the rooms for future use but still maximise more space for hosting. Our main hacking project was to knock down the storeroom in the middle of the house which would allow for the dining area to open up into the kitchen, creating a long continuous space.
  • As you enter the house, you are greeted by the existing indoor balcony area. We converted this into the living room such that the door opens up to a cosy and inviting first look. 🧡 We also decided to flush out the corner rooms behind these gorgeous wooden fluted panel concealed doors. This space gets a ton of sunlight and most of our guests don’t even realise there’s 2 extra rooms on the right!
  • Having hacked down the storeroom, we had space for a 2.2m long dining table which we got custom-made in JB. This has been a lifesaver for hosting and has been very comfortable for our use. We love the dining area because of how signature the vintage Danish chairs sit under the AJ Royals! 🪑
  • Continuing on from the dining area, meet our dry kitchen. This is where we make at least 2 cups of coffee a day and bring our bulky appliances out to be plugged in. Situated right next to the window, this space is especially beautiful in the early mornings when the light seeps in. ☕️
  • We opted not to build any upper cabinets for the dry kitchen and sink area so as to really make the space feel spacious and bright. This L-shape peninsula has facilitated so many fun conversations while we wash dishes! We also invested in a dishwasher as we didn’t have space for an overhead drying rack.
  • Tucked away at the end of our house is our guest bathroom, which we really went all out to create a more luxurious feel with zellige-style turquoise tiles and accent lighting.
  • Next to our kitchen is actually our master bedroom, which spaciously houses our Queen bed and 2 more Big Borky beds for our dogs. 😅 We also created shallow carpentry along the window bay area to have a little bit more extra storage. This has basically been our standing vanity!
  • Last but not least, our master toilet. We got our dream terracotta tiles and rain shower above head - what more could we ask for?
