  • Considering that our flat is an older resale HDB, we gave it quite the facelift during our renovation. One of the biggest (and probably our favourite) decisions we made was purchasing the recess area outside our flat. This allowed us to create a dedicated entryway, complete with windows fitted with blinds and patterned tiles for a bit of character! To make the space feel even more inviting, we also try to add cheerful touches such as our pink shoe cabinet, a matching light and cute decor that we love.
  • Our living room before renovation. One of the features that attracted us to the space was the wide windows and squarish layout.
  • This space serves as both our dining and living area. We chose a creamy white for the walls, complemented by day blinds that gently filter natural light, to create a warm and calming atmostphere. For our furniture, they are a mix of modern and secondhand furniture which we've accumulated along the way.
  • After purchasing the recess area, we took down the wall separating the kitchen from the corridor to create a more open and seamless space. We also maximized functionality by converting the now-defunct fire escape into additional storage with custom carpentry.
  • For the common toilet, we kept the existing layout but refreshed the space (and save cost!) by overlaying new wall and floor tiles to better suit our style.
  • For the master bathroom, we took a different approach to maximize the limited space. We relocated the sink outside the bathroom, creating a separate vanity area with more countertop space to suit our needs. To subtly demarcate the bathroom/vanity area and the rest of the master bedroom, we added an arched tile flooring detail which offers both function and aesthetic.
  • Across from the vanity, we designed a built-in wardrobe and study area. The study fits our lifestyle, allowing us to work near each other even when one of us is resting in the bedroom. This setup also ensures that we don’t obstruct the full-length windows, keeping the space bright and airy, while providing extra storage below the table.
  • We combined the master bedroom with the adjacent room by hacking the wall in between, creating a more spacious layout. Consistent to the rest of the home, we also installed day blinds across the full-length windows to allow natural light to filter in, keeping the space cozy and comfortable for us to rest and wind down daily.
  • And of course, no home tour would be complete without these two little gremlins 😆 They say thank you for reading, and we can’t wait to share more of our space with you next time ❤️
