  • Hello Hipvan folks! Today I’ll quickly share on why we decided to stay with the BTO laundry rack instead of getting a shiny Steigen! What’s a BTO laundry rack? It’s a manual laundry rack that BTO provides along with every flat. Initially, we were fairly certain we wanted to tear it down and buy one of those Steigen / Steigen lookalikes that were so popular in the market! But my ID gave us a suggestion that changed our minds! 🤔 “Since it’s free, why don’t you just use it first and if it really spoils, you can get the Steigen then?” And we were like “oh ya hor” 😂
  • And fast forward to 9 months in, we have absolutely not regrets! It’s quite easy to use. To move it up and down, you simply have to pull the strap at an angle (like above).
  • And to make it stop at a certain level, simply move the strap perpendicular to the roller thingy. It is certainly not a glamorous process using it, as it’s a bit clunky and noisy when pulling it up and down. But it is functional, and most importantly, I did not need to shell out hundreds of dollars for something that gets the job done equally well. Surprisingly, even though I only leave my service yard window half open, and my service yard barely gets wind, the clothes still dry within 1.5-2 days, and I have no issues with the “wet clothes” smell.
  • It also comes with an anchor for your strap, but so far it has been so stable that I don’t use it for its purpose. I just loosely wrap it because otherwise it dangles and sways around!
  • We do have a backup for when we need our laundry to dry fast (eg coming back from holiday) or when the weather has been rainy. For quick drying, we will close our service yard windows and door, and run the dehumidifier! It works wonders and our clothes turn our crisp, and we have clean water that can be reused for washing the floor / watering plants as well. So, maybe before you shell out hundreds or even thousands for an electric laundry rack, this is something you can consider!!
