  • Dai ga hou, welcome to this non-unique basic service yard. Why do I say so because this is the only place at home without any built-ins to keep the flexibility for changes in the future. To give the illusion of space, hacking was done to the wall and pre-installed door that came with a half-window. This laundry rack from Nitori provides alternative to non-built-ins for organizing laundry essentials, even better with adjustable height and width catered for top-load washing machine!
  • An unconventional idea that I've been debating during renovation discussions was placing the fridge in the service yard. This decision was made to provide more countertop space for the kitchen, and also creating a cohesive, unobstructed view of the kitchen. Hangers are stored away by the side of the washing machine on a magnetic rack, camouflaged with the same colour as the washer for a cleaner look. Also got my ID to install a double socket (besides one for the washing machine) so there can be easy access to the vacuum cleaner when it comes to cleaning.
  • Some house plants to change the perspective of the mundane service yard. Bought the hanging Dischidia for its cute looking shell for decorating the house, which I later found out that it has some air-purifying properties too. The pitcher plant was chosen to test for its ability to lure and kill insects like spiders, which I haven't seen any so far haha.
  • The space beside the fridge was given to this multi-tiered laundry basket. This side of the fridge is also perfect for hiding unsightly item like this collapsible pail!
