  • Welcome to the 7th post on @ourcarousellhome! This time, we’re featuring the most used spot in our house: our dining area. It’s where we enjoy all our meals, sip on coffee, play board games, and occasionally get some work done on our laptops. If you’ve read our house tour post, you’ll know about our ID’s brilliant idea to curve the wall. We absolutely love how this design element ties together all the curves in our home, giving the dining area an even more spacious feel.
  • The ambient lighting in our dining and living spaces is one of our favourite features. We chose a simple set of three pendant lights with warm tones, which feel especially cosy at night. Our dining table is a ready-stock piece from Greys and Sanders, measuring 1.8m in length. Sometimes wish we’d gone for the 2m version because it might be a better fit overall. The chairs, on the other hand, are a proud Taobao find, they came pre-assembled and turned out amazing! We almost went with a local store that customises wooden chairs through factories in Indonesia (a lot of them do). Chairs like this with fabric seats were priced at around S$250 each, but my husband insisted on leather seating for easier maintenance and a cleaner look. The quotes for leather options came up to S$350 per chair, which would’ve totalled over S$2,000—far more than our table, which we scored at a fantastic price of S$1,399. Spending that much on chairs just didn’t feel right, so we turned to Taobao instead and couldn’t be happier with the decision! I selected the best PVC leather and cushion option available, and each chair ended up costing just S$80. Including shipping, the total came to roughly S$100 per chair, what a steal!
  • A 1.8m table can look a little bare on its own, so I wanted to add a simple, "evergreen" decor piece to liven it up. Since we’re not the best with plants and prefer something low-maintenance, I went with faux plant decor. I originally bought this piece on Taobao as a CNY decoration, but it turned out to fit perfectly year-round. Without even realising it, it’s been sitting here on our table for over a year now. The cute miniature bear is from last year’s Starbucks barista blind box—how time flies! And that’s our cosy dining space. It’s simple, but it’s where so many of our core memories are made, gathering with family and friends. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post where we’ll share about the next most-used space in our home. :)
