  • Our living room is definitely the heart of our humble abode 💗 Our home is a mix of farmhouse and japandi styles, and our living room is definitely more inspired by japandi.
  • We spend the most time here as we are Netflix fanatics 🤭 We decided to spend a little more on a nice TV which not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but also functions well.
  • As this main space is a long rectangular shape, it also flows into the dining area.
  • To soften the look of the space and make it more cozy, we added curves such as here…
  • And here 😊 small curves for a subtle difference, but added together, gives a gentle feel (iykwim 🤭)
  • The main curve is this arch niche, that separates the dining and living spaces. Real wood shelves were picked by my ID and they come in two-tone wood shades which makes each piece unique. We love how we can change up the decorative pieces here whenever we accumulate more and also display photos.
  • Grey is a consistent colour used in our home and we opted for a grey sofa which matches any wood tones. The design of the sofa is simple and we use different cushion covers + sofa throw to spruce it up.
  • When you just move into a new home, the fine dust will take some time to settle and the estate will be dusty too. An air purifier is much needed! We have one right where the sofa is and hidden at the corner so it doesn’t take up any walking space. Do remember to cater for sockets if you plan to put any appliances or phone chargers beside your sofa. We have a double socket installed on the settee (hidden by sofa) for easy access.
  • Some households choose not to have a coffee table or to have a small one, we opted for a sizable one as we enjoy snacking or having our meals by the tv. It’s important to get a table where we can comfortably hold everything.
  • For the tv console, we got one that has ample storage space and also has rounded corners so nobody knocks into it. We requested for the Taobao seller to drill a hole imo the left and right side compartments so we can conceal the wires from under for a neater look. Plus our cat can’t get access to the wires too 😂
  • It’s not a popular choice for smaller homes like the newer BTOs and we did not hack a bedroom to open up the living room space - but we chose to add a settee by the window which acts as extra seats when we host and for our cat to look out the window.
  • It is also extra storage space for items we need easy access too, such as supplies for our cat, extra cushions etc.
  • We did our best to maximize our living room space and hope this gives you some ideas on what to do for your home 💗
