  • For us, the dining room is the soul of our house. It is a place where both us will sit together to enjoy our meals. It is a place for us to chillax and re-connect at the end of the workday. The dining space echoes most of our conversations, gather our love ones and deepen our bonds. It is truly one of the most versatile and essential space in our house serving several important purposes at home.
  • Hence, it is only right to ensure that this space gets the right care and touch.
  • One of the things we did for our dining space is to build a floor to ceiling cabinet that acts as an extra storage. It is our pantry cabinet, snack cabinet, store your décor item cabinet and dump everything in there kind of cabinet...This cabinet also share a space with the oven and microwave oven.
  • The most essential furniture for this space is the dining table and we always knew we will end up with a big dining table because: 1) We love food! 2) We love cooking! 2) & We love hosting and serving food!
  • So yeah it makes a lot of sense to get a big table that can accommodate up 6 - 8 people per seating. We researched a lot and I mean a lot of tables. Many were too bulky, too woody and not in our "taste" zone. The ones we fancied were too expensive..haha! the conundrum is real.. we never knew finding the right table was such a hassle! Lol!
  • Eventually, we ended up with the dining table from Castlery (Alexander table) which at that time was on sale for $549. It was such a steal. This table is about 2.1m and the material is made of Solid Mindi Wood with Mindi Veneer. The table has a stunning but subtle wood grain pattern. We love the simplicity and how easy it is to clean, and the table has plenty of leg room.
  • We found the "perfect" chair for our delicate butts.. We considered the following points: 1. Must last for quite some years maybe 8 years or more 2. Must be able to bear our weight..both of us are on the "over- the weight side" so must have a chair that must literally carry our weight over the years 3. Must look modern but not too modern… 4. Must match the table / color etc.. We love planning and matching the furnitures before going down to buy. At least we can see how it matches first before wasting time going to Ikea. We also read up a lot about these furnitures for example the weight it carries, etc and we used platforms such as pinterest and google to get a sense of what we want. So it makes the buying process a lot easier. So after matching the table with different types of chairs, we found that these chair - ODGER- stood out the most... We visited Ikea to test the weight of time and immediately bought 6 sets after confirming the size is right. Once again, creating this space with love is what makes it special. Thank you for reading our post..See you soon!
