  • Hello, we are KH & MS, and we appreciate your time here with us! Today, we’re excited to share our tips for designing a serene and functional bedroom. Our bedroom is our sanctuary and we segmented it into two zones: a restful area for our bed and a prep area with our vanity, master toilet, and wardrobes. The overall vibe we are going for is cozy, warm, and functional for our resting and prepping needs. :)
  • We chose calming colors: wood laminates for our wardrobes and cloudy cement for vanity area. They beautifully contrast with our cream-painted walls and vinyl floors from Evorich! Tip: Make use of your wall space! The cute rack we got from IKEA helped us to eventually kick the habit of throwing the clothes around the house. :D
  • Creams and browns make the room feel warm and inviting but we also introduced pops of color from our decorations progressively over the year.
  • For our prepping zone, our vanity area is a half-height built-in which kind of created this cozy corridor for prepping and accessing the toilet without blocking ventilation. What we also love is that this blocks the bed view from the door, which is great since we are a corridor unit. Our wardrobe area is minimalistic, keeping the space clutter-free (well, to the best of our abilities, haha!)
  • We felt that this furniture arrangement promotes a good flow because there is a clear segmentation of what we do in the prep and rest zones. Also! we did a curve edge for the vanity zone for both aesthetic and practical reasons - curves to soften the look and practical because our track record of walking into doors and knocking into things in the dark was a cause of concern.
  • Separate track lighting in the prep zone ensures one of us can get ready without disturbing the other’s sleep. :)
  • Instead of blackout curtains, we opted for Venetian blinds. They allow some light to seep through in the morning, which helps us wake up naturally in case we oversleep or miss the alarm.
  • Initially, we didn’t think we needed bedside lamps, but after a few bumps into the bed frame, we got cute, chargeable night lamps shaped like acorns. They have timer settings and are just the right level of brightness too :)
  • What's your favorite feature for your bedroom? We'd love to hear your thoughts and tips in the comments!
