First look into our cosy japandi themed 5rm BTO in Tengah!

Hello everyone!~ Welcome to our japandi themed home. Let us kickstart this housewarming by providing some details about the home and the renovation. Size: 1216 sqft Renovation only: ~$50k Renovation + furnishing cost: $102k Duration of renovation: 3 months We are a couple that enjoys the tranquil nature of life, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Therefore, we embarked on a journey with our ID from Style Elements Studio (@styleelementsstudio) to create a Japandi themed home. 
Before we commence the home tour, here's the original floor plan of our unit. Our unit came with all the toilet fittings and tiles, provided by HDB. 
After some space planning discussion with my ID, we reconfigured the layout slightly (by hacking the walls marked with a red 'x') and building carpentries in the living, kitchen and bedroom 2. The walls that were hacked were done to convert the existing kitchen into an open concept kitchen and create a walk-in wardrobe that is continuous with the master bedroom. 
Starting off at the entryway, we have a row of carpentries built for storage and display, allowing us to stow away the clutter and provide a neat and clean aesthetics. The carpentries are flushed against the wall, which visually makes the living space larger. 
Here's our cozy living space, where we lose track of time while watching netflix. We have been hooked to Squid Game 2 lately! The living space of a 5rm BTO usually includes a suggested study, which we have currently furnished into a chillax corner with a faux plant and a bean bag from MUJI. 
As we installed air con in the living space, we built a door to create a separation between the living and dining spaces, and the rooms. 
Over at the dining area, we fit a 1.8m dining table set that we bought from TaoBao. Honestly, we had never purchased anything on TaoBao until we have to renovate and furnish the space. Despite being skeptical at first, we were very impressed with the price point and the quality of the furnitures delivered! 
To go along with the Japandi theme, we requested our ID to include some designs for the carpentries door, instead of a using a laminated piece of plywood. (Note that this comes with additional cost) We also choose 2 different colored laminates for our kitchen carpentries, this helped to add dimension and depth to the kitchen 
We skipped on having upper cabinets for one side of the kitchen as we do not want the kitchen to feel small and boxed up. Instead, we replace it with a shelf. Now that we have moved in, the carpentry that we have built in the kitchen is more than sufficient for the items we have. A win-win for us! :) 
Currently, we did not do anything to our room corridor but we took this picture because we love how our master bedroom wallpaper comes through the viewfinder haha! Perhaps we will look into some wall hung art pieces or shelves to spruce up this space! We suuuuuuper love our bedroom wallpaper! Although it does cost a bomb (around $2.2k), it was money well spent because look at how it completes the look and feel of the bedroom! 
As we still have some floor space adjacent to the queen sized bed, we decided on furnishing it up with a lounge chair that we got from JB and side table that we got from TaoBao. Here's a quick shoutout to furniture stores in JB! They are really affordable and at decent quality. All you have to do is to pay for delivery and 9% GST. The great thing is the overall cost is not exorbitant and you do enjoy some savings which you can later spend it on other aspects (like decorating the house, buying little knick knacks)! 
Coming in to the master bathroom, we did not build any carpentries for the vanity. Instead, all our toilet vanities were purchased from HERA Singapore and installed by the plumber our ID engaged. We also have a stand alone bathtub (Also from HERA Singapore), specifically requested by the mister! All our tiles were originally from HDB and since they already look pretty decent, we decided to keep it. Our walk-in wardrobe is actually an entire bedroom. We built an L-shaped carpentry lining the wall, with a vanity and a display cabinet. Following the japandi theme, we requested for designs on our carpentries door (same as all the other areas of the house). We love how integrated the handles look on our wardrobe and how clean it looks. 
Lastly, we converted one of our bedroom to a recreation/work room with loose furnishings. Great from when we need to work from home. :) Aaaaaand with that, we hope that you enjoyed viewing our home from your screens. We are thankful if you made it here as the post is pretty long.
