  • Hello again! This week we will be sharing our kitchen, the overall design and some tips and tricks to make your kitchen look clean and clutter free!
  • Here's another view of the kitchen. Our kitchen is a semi-open concept japandi themed kitchen. The kitchen cost the most in our renovation, about 15-20k due to the extensive carpentries.
  • This is how the kitchen looked like midway through the renovation and the electricals done. We would love to show the original state of the kitchen, but we did not take photos when we first went to the unit. Sorry bout that!
  • Over here we have our stove and hood. Often, we hearing people around us saying that a gas stove is better than an induction stove. To be honest, it really depends on your lifestyle, whether you cook more or less often, whether you prioritise cleanliness or wok hey haha! Our countertop is a single slab of marble that is cut to fit the carpentry. The name of the marble slab is 'centurion'.
  • The wells water dispenser is an absolute requirement as boiling water and waiting for it to cool takes such as long time. We really love the convenience of having a water dispenser, especially one that is both functional and aesthetic. Here's a tip! To reduce the use of countertop space, we installed a magnet above the sink to hold our knives, scissor and tongs! The installation is not difficult, just stick on with 3M tape and let it sit for 24 hours before placing items on it. By reducing the use of countertop space, it makes it easier to clean as well and looks neat.
  • Over at the other side, here's where the missus does most of her baking. As such, there is minimal items placed here. We added a coffee machine here from Nespresso. This is the vertuo lattissima in white! We love the smell of hazelnut that fills the kitchen every morning. We also installed a powertrack from Nexen. This is quite important to us as we might want to use equipments and tools around this area (such as rice cooker, mixer, blender, cake mixer). Having a powertrack provides the flexibility of using the equipment wherever you want as the plug can be easily shifted to accommodate. You do not need to worry about equipments with very short wires as well, since you can easily shift the plug. To open up the kitchen, we only install shelf on this side, as opposed to another row of carpentry. Storage is important, however, if you center your renovation around maximising storage too aggressively, you will end up with a house that looks very boxed up.
  • Here's another tip! We chose to build cupboard with shelves in it instead of having a lot of drawers. Then we bought stick-on drawers from shopee depending on what we wanted to put. This allows for easy access and allow maximum utilisation of deep cupboard. You would not need to dig deep within to find your items, as you can just pull out the stick-on drawers.
  • One last tip before ending off this post. This is how we conceal our switches and our kitchen towel - by building the shelves a little higher and a board for the electricals. We opened our carpentry door to take this photo. However, if you close the doors, the switches and kitchen towel are actually out of sight.
  • We custom build a full height carpentry with 2 pull out drawers. Initially, the thought process was... 'okay we want an area where we can put our oven and another where we can put our microwave'. And so, we built this... then after moving in, we bought a new oven, that is 4 in 1, meaning it's an oven, it's a microwave, it's a steamer and also a grill. Soooooo.. in the end the upper drawer is just used to place drinks for guest that does not like cold drinks haha.
  • Last but not least, we decorated a small corner of our kitchen to feature snacks that our guest might want to reach their hand out to the moment they arrived. The current decor is CNY themed as CNY is round the corner!!!! Thank you everyone for reading our post and making it so far. Here's wishing all of you good health, wealth and may everything you do flows smoothly in the year 2025! :D
