House-Hunting: our 5 year old resale flat was a love at first sight

Hello everyone! Time flies and it's almost been a year since we collected our home keys! Today, I'll be sharing about our house hunting journey: the challenges faced, criteria we considered and how we ended up with our first dream home! The house is a 5 year old resale flat located in Seng Kang. This was the original state of the house and we loved that it was on a high floor. The size of the home is 93sqm but in reality, it appeared much spacious compared to other BTOs. Some of the criteria we had for our home was an open concept kitchen, middle to high floor, close proximity to MRT and below 620k. We came to view the house with our agent and we were really pleased after seeing the floor plan because we were able to hack down walls to create an open concept kitchen! (Hurray) However, the house wasn't walking distance to the MRT so we had to compromise on that. We were so excited we made an offer THAT night we viewed the house. ANDDDDD after some nerve wrecking back and forth conversations, we got a deal!! The next stressful part was waiting for the COV results which thankfully was $0! Even though the house was relatively young, we decided to do a full renovation as we wanted the house to appear consistent. We hacked down walls, changed tiles and renovated both toilets too. Renovations took about 14 weeks and thankfully there wasn't much hiccups! We didn't really have a theme for the house, but we wanted to keep it minimalist and clean looking. My uncle helped to decide and execute most of the work and I"m thankful that it turned out really nice! We hacked the kitchen walls and opened up the space. I really love how we are able to host family and friends with this spacious kitchen. Cooking is also a breeze due to the large space.
