Hello! I'm Amari and together with my husband, we are homeowners living in a 4-room 90sqm BTO (that we got through SBF) in Tampines. Follow me on IG/TikTok: @amariri_ for more info on our home journey! Our cosy dining and corridor greets guests as they enter the home. This is the original floor plan layout for our home. We were lucky to get a unit that had the bomb shelter in the kitchen, that made our living room and entranceway bigger. This was the final floor plan that we landed on with our ID (@sydney.spaces from 1618 Design). We did minimal hacking, only in the service yard and the wall between the MBR and Bedroom 2 to maximize our wardrobe space without doing an L-shaped closet. Our living room was kept simple and modular as we like to have friends over. An L-shaped sofa gives us more space to relax and wind down, while also doubling up as extra seating space when hosting. We have a lot of open space in our living and dining area, which gives us room to open extra tables or chairs to accommodate guests when hosting larger groups. Keeping the concept open also gives the illusion of a bigger home. We did a built-in cabinet with an open niche to display our trinkets and photographs as well. We kept our kitchen an open concept as we are not heavy cookers, and to also give the perception of a larger kitchen and dining area. My husband prefers gas hobs while I prefer induction, so we opted to get both as a compromise. We opted to use sintered stone for our kitchen countertops for its durability and heat resistance. All of our switches are also "hidden" as they are behind the carpentry doors. They are easily accessible from the bottom as it's open at the bottom. We built in a simple bar countertop behind the dining table to store essentials, like our water dispenser, rice cooker, cups, utensils and plates/bowls. We placed them here as it was easier to serve guests without them needing to go into the kitchen to get what they need. Our MBR was kept simple, with a built in vanity and bed head, and two separate closets. We were able to maximize space by hacking down the wall between our MBR and Bedroom 2 and converting it into a closet. The vanity area has a small niche built into the closet carpentry to store my Dyson hairdryer and other skincare products. The closet by the door is where the wall between MBR and Bedroom 2 was, and this way, we didn't need to do an L-shaped closet and forego my vanity area. We were able to get more closet doors as a result! We opted to get a storage bed to give us additional storage space, without compromising the overall room design. Both my husband and I are gamers and collectors of figurines, LEGOs, Gundam, etc so we designed our study and work room to have a built in display cabinet and side-by-side setups. Our display can fit some of the larger Lego sets like the two Disney Castles and the Star Wars Millennium Falcon.
