  • Following our minimalistic theme, we've made sure to maintain clean lines and everything monochrome. Read on more to see the different decisions that we've made to stay on theme.
  • Behind the dining table is our pantry(?) area. This is where we house our water filter. We chose Living Care's Onyx as it was one of the models that is full matte black, and the design of it is super sleek, matching our home really nicely. Note to check if the water filter of your choice requires an inlet and/or outlet water pipe. We didn't know an outlet pipe is needed till tiles were already laid, resulting in the outlet pipe being exposed instead of hidden under the tiles.
  • Here's a closer look at the beauty. Ah! Looking at this photo reminds me of one decision we've made to help minimise visual clutter, which is to keep our power sockets at a height slightly lower than our appliances so that it stays hidden. With this, most of the wirings are kept out of sight, making the area look clean and neat.
  • For the pantry, we used a similar beige colour for our cabinet laminate and for our quartz countertop for that monochrome look.
  • Gotta curve those corners. Especially in this high traffic area where people walk to and fro the living area and the bathroom.
  • For the top row, we did hidden drawers so that we can keep the cabinet fronts symmetrical while still having the functionality of storing smaller items such as cutleries and kitchen tools.
  • Here are the bottom drawers without the hidden drawers to store bigger items.
  • Before we go to our dining table, you can see in between is our Fanco corner fan that we've bought from Tampoi (499RM). As usual, we have to choose the matte black one. This fan is a life-saver for when we eat or work at the dining table. But it can be also a life-hazard for your tall friends when they come over 🙃.
  • As the fan is also facing the kitchen, it is also great for ventilating the fumes as we cook in our open kitchen.
  • Here is our Taobao dining table and chairs!
  • This Taobao table is made of sintered stone (if is true to listing) and we love how low maintenance it is. We don't use any coasters, and any water stain can be just wiped away with a damp cloth. Also, the table legs are fluted, adding some interesting textures to the dining room! p.s. one downside to a plain black dining table is that dust are more visible
  • We absolutely adore our dining chairs. For just $20-30SGD, the quality is superb. When deciding on our dining chairs, I had just one requirement, which is to have some form of heat ventilation at our butt area. Not too sure if any of you can relate, but when I sit on a chair, especially leather chairs, my butt and thigh just sweats and it makes the seat kinda wet and uncomfortable 😅. Not to mention fabric chairs :0 Where does that sweat goes?
  • Under the table, you can't forget power sockets for your hotpot sessions or for charging laptop while you WFH.
  • This is also where we hide our tissue paper box to keep our table top clear. This is a temporary fix where I hot glued a piece of magnet to the tissue box, so it can be stuck to our table's metal frame. Down the road, I'll be getting a simple tissue paper holder and adding the magnet to that instead, so we can easily change out the tissue boxes from the holder. p.s. using a magnet allows flexibility of shifting the tissue box to anywhere that we need it
  • Ending our post with our view from the dining table. Despite living on a low floor, we are blessed with these trees that provide us with greenery and privacy.
