How we style a living room with no built ins!

Welcome to our living room! We opted not to do any built-ins at all to keep the space really flexible so everything you'll see in this post is off the shelf :) The base pieces we chose (TV console, sofa, wall, lights) are all basic white/beige to set create a blank canvas for us to fill it up with pops of colour! One such example is this lovely red candle that we got literally just today - quick tip, now's the best time to get your Christmas decorations! This candle is from Ikea's Christmas collection and it was on sale at As-Is.
Here we annoy our neighbours with our karaoke set on our USM-dupe TV console. Of course the thing to consider about not doing a built-in TV console is cable management, especially if you get one with an open shelf like us. We can live with some wires showing, with cable organization box to hide whatever else we can.
Since our TV console has open shelves, we also invested in some funky crates for organization. The living room is also where our cat lives in his condo in our HDB :)
The catto has pretty much colonized everything as these two mats were originally meant for the dining chairs but he loves it so much that we let it double up as his bed.
