  • “Come on in and make yourself at home!” something we would say to our guests when they visit us. When they enter the house, the first area they will see is the dining area which is strategically positioned beside the kitchen. There isn’t much to the dining area as it is connected to the living room so we placed a long mirror opposite it to create an illusion of space. It also works for us to do any last minute outfit checks before going out of the house!
  • It’s a small space so we made sure that we are able to view our TV from our angle so that we can watch our Masterchef series! Initially we wanted a round dining table and find mismatched chairs on Carousell but we found this dining set and they let us pick different chairs of the same series! No regrets whatsoever, as the wood blends in nicely with the accents of the whole house.
  • The dining table could fit 4 people comfortably, but we bought a separate bench so that when the table extends we could fit 6-8 people which is perfect our monthly gatherings with our friends and family!
  • The extendable table in action! All we need to do is pull from one end and the middle portion pops up. This mechanism sold the Mr instantly and he takes any opportunity available to show this to our guests!
  • It is just the two of us at home, so we don’t really fully maximise the dining area. It has actually become a table where we place our bags and keys once we reached home, because we would instantly crash into our living room sofa!
  • Our centrepiece is something that we can shift around easily! This beautiful blue wooden tray with batik motifs was given by a friend whose mom wanted to give it away! The incense was a really thoughtful housewarming gift from a friend as well and he even made the concrete incense holder. And also, the all time favourite and must have for everyone house, the Hooga Reed Diffuser!
  • Yet another gift! A friend who makes really good chendol (@chendolkita / shameless plug haha) gifted us these beautiful shades of glass cups because he saw them and thought of Wumah Wishun.
  • Bring out the fancy plates! I heavily and shamelessly hinted to my mom that I wanted her blue patterned set of plates. She has too many at home anyway and our house was very bare then. So she lovingly gifted it to us hehe
  • Plot twist! In the end, the both of us prefer to sit in front of the TV, seated on the floor, next to each other. We don’t even use the fancy plates, we use the Mr’s childhood Power Rangers plates and of course, Teh Tarik has to be in those Teh Tarik cups! If you’re wondering what “Invite Eat” means, when translated to Malay it says “Jemput Makan!” Happy Ramadan to all!
