Kitchen: Open (& closed), matching appliances & concealed bomb shelter

Welcome to our kitchen! In line with the Japandi Luxe theme of our home, we have white and light wood laminates for our carpentry, and sintered stone for the countertops and backsplash. We used the same 900x900mm floor tiles as the living room to make the entire area look wider and more seamless. For both aesthetic and practical reasons (read: package promotions), our large kitchen appliances (i.e. fridge, dishwasher, hob, hood & oven) are from the Samsung Bespoke series! Having most of the appliances in the same colour scheme helps make the kitchen look cohesive and less cluttered. Here’s a closer look at the hob and hood. As a couple that’s pretty mindful of cleanliness, we opted for an induction hob for easy clean up. Ironically, the white hob helps us better spot stubborn stains that we might not have spotted if it was black. 
We specifically ordered a flush mount sink, to prevent water/debris from getting trapped. This makes the area easy to clean and maintain. We also got a pull out mixer tap, which is really helpful when we are cleaning the corners of the sink. Here’s a better view of both sides of the kitchen. On the right, we have the fridge, dishwasher, sink, hob and hood, and lots of storage space. On the left, we have our oven and Thermomix, and lots of countertop space. In the centre of the picture, there’s a white door – can you guess what’s behind it? If you guessed bomb shelter, you’re right! We requested for this door to hide the bomb shelter. There’s storage space on the right and left of the door too, so those areas are not wasted. We also put our magnets on the bomb shelter door instead of the fridge, so that the kitchen looks less cluttered. To keep ourselves cool while cooking, we added a small fan in the kitchen. Here’s what our dining space looks like from the kitchen! As mentioned in our dining space post, we requested for bifold glass windows, to keep in the cooking smells. When there are guests, these also serve as pass-through windows for us to pass the food quickly to them. 
Similarly, we also got bifold glass doors for entrance to our kitchen to keep in cooking smells. These doors help us to change our open-concept kitchen to a closed one, within a few seconds. Thanks for stopping by! IG: @robertslewzaijia
