  • Hello everyone! Welcome to our kitchen organisation post! As a really lazy person, I could never relate to the intense organisation that some homeowners do (think buying 30 identical aesthetic spice bottles, or an egg organiser). What I have to share however are some of the low effort ways I’ve organised my kitchen.
  • Starting with under the sink - it houses our cleaning materials, plastic bags (for rubbish), dishwashing power, and detergent. We purchased a small plastic rack from IKEA which came in very handy, allowing us to utilise some of the “air space”. It’s very convenient as my “high use” items are so easily accessible while my “low use” items are hidden behind or parked in the lower shelf.
  • Another fantastic item that I appreciate is airtight rice containers with measuring cups as the lids! Plus points for looking nice and minimalist 😊
  • A closer look at the measuring cup. Seriously so convenient! All I have to do is unscrew the cup, pour the rice according to my needs, and screw back the cup. I also love their smaller size. We use different types of rice often, so it’s good to have all of them rather accessible this way.
  • I keep most of my kitchen appliances below my stove. It’s a challenge to make sure we don’t accumulate too many appliances 🫣 But so far it’s still been ok! It might have been better to install these as drawers instead of a static shelf, but we decided to keep our costs low. Plus we’re still young and can still bend down to pick up these items. When we age, I think we will spend more to create drawers for our appliances. Some of my friends installed large drawers for this purpose and I do get a bit jealous at home convenient it can be!
  • We have a L-shaped kitchen, which means a lot of dead space in the corner. While we don’t use them now, I can see that it will be useful if we accumulate more items in our kitchen. Or… maybe we would never use it, but it doesn’t hurt to have more storage!
  • We also have a small pantry area where we keep our jams, root vegetables, and drink ingredients! Check out my newest coffee pod storage - a repurposed mooncake box! I just love the botanic design on it!
  • A closer look into the drawer! Through my kitchen organisation journey, I realised my ethos is always sustainability/practicality first, and aesthetics second. I know this means I will not have the best looking home, but I think we have to be conscious about the money we spend and waste we create. And this brings me to the end of this post! Thanks for reading!
