  • Hi folks πŸ‘‹πŸ» today we'll be talking about everything Mood Lighting ✨ and how we curate our lights around our house to not only decorate but illuminate dark spaces with just the right amount of light. We've got a lot of lamps to get through, so let's get started with our living room! Here is where we huddle around and relax with a movie or game. And after fully decorating the space, we realised lights that the best lights to complement the space were ones that worked with our decor and were not too bright or disruptive when we are using the projector. Fun fact: we give names to all our lamps so that when we ask Google to turn them on, it sounds something like this "Hey Google, turn on my balls πŸ˜‚" – My balls being these cute string of lights that decorate our artwork hahaha.
  • Another layout we previously tried was utilising our tall standing lamp in a dark corner, illuminating our favourite items below. Placing it there also casts beautiful rays onto our wall, creating an intentional glow that is so pretty.
  • We love incorporating standing lamps because of their lamp shades – it helps soften the look of your space. We specifically placed our thrifted medium-height lamp here to give a soft glow to our plants and wall calendar.
  • Our lamps don't stop there! We also use our thrifted origami standing lamp in our dining area, and we love that the lampshade provides visual interest to the space as well. Don't be afraid to play around with the type of lights you have, finding a suitable height, shape and brightness is like fitting the final piece to a puzzle.
  • Now, let's take a moment to look up πŸ˜‰ Our mood lights don't just stop at our loose lamps but also our dining lamps. We intentionally chose warm filament bulbs that complement our glass lampshades.
  • Coupled with our origami lamp, their scalloped hems give visual interest to the space and make everything look more interesting (beyond just providing light!)
  • It doesn't stop there, we also have a standing lamp in our bedroom that gives off a warm glow and helps us get ready for sleep. It's not too jarring and we can set its temperature and brightness level through a smart bulb. This helps us control the lamps we need more flexibility on. In conclusion, don't be afraid to play around with the type of lights you have, finding a suitable height, shape and brightness is like fitting the final piece to a puzzle. We hope this has been helpful, and we'll see you in our next post! ~Nay & ZQ
