  • My family renovated our kitchen 10 years ago but it looks as good as new. Rather than packing the kitchen, I decided to take photos to showcase what the usual life is like at home. The design may be a lil dated, but hopefully, there are still tips or inspiration along the way for everyone. My parents opted for the same wooden laminate throughout to create a seamless and cohesive look.
  • My mum does most of the cooking, so the most frequently used equipment and pots are left on the stove. We keep them dust-free by putting a cloth over it.
  • We opted for a L-shaped kitchen layout, relocating the sink and fridge to form a peninsula. This enhances our cooking workflow, so we can easily rotate between tasks like cooking and washing, while also separating the service yard—a feature uncommon in older HDBs. (spot the garlics for good luck and fortune #asianthings)
  • For the pantry, we created a high cabinet with pull-out metal drawers for easy access to items. Since they are all hidden, we don’t bother tidying them hahaha. This cabinet is great especially for frequent cooking.
  • This is how it looks like when the pantry door is opened. There is a magnetic door latch for easy closing, perfect for one hands when you are busy cooking in the kitchen.
  • We opted for an intermat hinge for the awkward corners of the kitchen. We also skipped the lazy susans and drawers so we can keep bulky machines that are not frequently used.
  • Instead of an island, we bought a dining table and bench to match the kitchen instead. Islands are typically higher than dining tables, but since we wanted a space for eating in the kitchen, a dining table will fit better.
  • Breakfast is served!
