  • Our living room is one place where we put a lot of thought and effort into styling, as it is where we spend the most time at chilling and relaxing, and is also the first impression of our house when visitors step in. In the past 1 year that we have moved into this house, it is our living room that has gone through many transformational changes. It has seen us through the different phases of our lives [though it has only been a year], i.e an initially childless and carefree couple, to welcoming a baby, and an additional family member [elderly parent]. In this week’s post, we will take you through these changes of our living room. In this first picture, you will notice that we opted for a built in TV feature wall. This was done with the intention to optimise storage space as I’ve always felt that the space above TV consoles are “wasted” and not fully utilised. It eventually ended up being more of display shelves for our home decor 😂 but still one of the rooms in our house that sparks joy for us! You will also notice the aesthetic Venetian blinds in our living room. They are done by End Curtain, whom we highly recommend. We decided on blinds as we want to be as low maintenance [read: lazy] as possible. 😆 And we do not regret this decision at all.
  • Our ceiling fan is from Alaska fans, and I really love how aesthetic it looks, with its white & wood combi and thick rod, which matches the whole living room aesthetic. We bought most of our living room display decor from Taobao and Spotlight. The faux Monstera plant is from Turtle Singapore.
  • Taking you to the other side of the living room. So once upon a time, I was very into vibrant colours to make the whole place more lively and happier, and I brought this style into the living room 😅 This was one of our first living room looks. The swing is from Taobao and I actually still really love it. The two seater sofa is the Hanford sofa from Castlery. I don’t think they carry this sofa anymore though, but I do think this size is perfect for small HDBs. Although it is two-seater, it can seat 3. The Nordic cushion covers are from Shopee and the Balinese/boho wall decor is from Taobao. The step stool was gifted by a friend, and it is one of the best gifts ever. We use it so frequently eg. eating while watching the telly. The coffee table was from Journey East. The throw draped by the side of the sofa is from Taobao and it is super comfortable.
  • This lazy sofa [懒人沙发] is also very comfortable! Not exaggerating. I always lie on it to read a book and it acts as extra seating for guests.
  • In November last year, we started decorating the house for Christmas. This is our very first Christmas tree, bought online from Masons. The tall reindeer and gnome plushies are from Tangs, and the Christmas wreaths are from Shopee. I really love Christmas so much as it’s such a jolly & merry season!
  • I haven’t mentioned this playmat here from Wandermats, which we got as a rug, even before we were pregnant. We thought it was better to get an aesthetic playmat instead of a rug as it was easier to maintain. Who knows, the playmat turned out to be our baby’s playground eventually 🤣 I also like that the playmat has a double-sided design and can be used on both sides.
  • Taking time to really appreciate and admire our beautiful views here. Benefits of staying on a high storey 😍
  • Ok and then fast forward to post giving birth. Gradually, my tastes turned to be more into neutral and earthy colours. Hahaha. My living room is no longer as colourful as before. The 安康 [which I really wish for my family] poster is from Mekomo. We have also sold away our beloved swing to be more practical and make way for more baby stuff 🥲 sometimes, NGL I really do miss the swing la. But these are woes of a small house, what to do? We also bought maxi Aykasa crates from State Of Matters, together with its birch lid, which acts as a coffee table and reading nook, and also has ample storage space beneath. [we also gave away the coffee table from Journey East]. Next to the Aykasa crates is a toy pram from Momiji Kids, famous for their rattan kids furniture. I’d been eyeing their pram for a long while, and when they sadly announced their closure, the kiasu me quickly bought it, as well as their rattan kids’ chair [pictured in next photo].
  • Hehe, the Momiji toy pram serves as another toy basket for now.
  • The Wandermats playmat [now flipped over for a different design] in our living room now serves as baby’s playground, with his Lovevery play gym. His baby books are now kept neatly in mini Aykasa crates. Spot our beloved Momiji products here too. Overall, we love how our living room has undergone different transformations within the span of a year. We believe there will only be more changes coming up, so do continue to watch this space! ❤️
  • Update of living room situation - addition of our new playpen from Wandermats, which fits their existing playmat nicely. Always thought we wouldn’t be getting a playpen due to its short usage, but the bubs has been so active crawling here, there and everywhere.. we needed a safe space to “park” him in where he could also explore freely, whilst us adults get to do our own thing sometimes.
