  • By far, the living room is our most beloved part of the house. It has the best view of all rooms, the biggest open space for our family to lounge around and is the perfect snacking spot for our children. When designing this area, we wanted to keep it simple so as to keep the view the focus of this area. We opted for simple TV feature wall which extends to the ceiling with some small shelves incorporating the curve elements from the rest of the house. We are very happy with how the living room turned out and how minimalist it looks!
  • Another decision we needed to make was whether to install a ceiling fan. It would have definitely looked more seamless without one but who are we kidding? This is Singapore and we wouldn't have survived without one in the warmer months of May and June. We installed cove lights and some down lights at the false ceiling and TV feature wall to create some ambience light depending on the activity in the living room. But with the big wide window, it is often bright enough throughout the daytime.
  • As part of the minimalist design, we wanted to have the TV console design incorporate our devices into it. Hence, we created two nooks to put the PS5 and subwoofer in rather than on top of it. Although our WIFI router is also kept hidden in the TV console, we had installed APs on our ceiling to maintain good WIFI coverage throughout the home.
  • We knew we wanted to get Simon Switches the moment we saw that. Unlike the rocker types from brands like Legrand, we loved the tactile buttons that Simon Switches offer and that you may have the option of 4 gangs in 1 frame of switch. It keeps the overall look of the frame seamless as well.
  • To keep the area here consistent, we painted the door to our bedroom the same limewash colour and installed a frameless door as well. We kept some curve elements in the feature wall shelves and the TV console as our design elements!
  • A new addition to the house that we didn't have in our previous one is plants! It adds a more organic dimension to the whole home and creates the sense of growth amongst other items that remain the same. Our sofa is a recliner type from Comfy and love that the colour matches with the rest of the living room.
  • As we have 2 kids, we needed to install window grilles for their safety. Fortunately, it didn't impact the view as much as we thought it would have. For our curtains, we opted for 1 only which was a blend of day and night curtains. Our design choice was to keep the colour seamless with the limewash paint and not block out the view entirely.
