Welcome to our sanctuary! Our bedroom blends minimalism with warm, natural elements to create a tranquil ambience.
As the beam above the master wardrobe cannot be hacked, we embraced it by giving it a softer look with added curves. Blackout curtains are a must to ensure we get quality sleep, blocking out unwanted light for a restful night. Due to the beam, we were unable to install the curtains all the way to the wardrobe. While some light seeps in when the morning comes, it doesn't affect our sleep Besides, it would be time to wake up by then!
Our teak bedframe, handcrafted from sustainably sourced solid wood, is the centerpiece of our bedroom as it brings nature indoors. We love the quality and know it will last for years to come while aging gracefully. Teakwood's natural oil makes it inherently durable, weather-resistant, termite-resistant, and naturally polished, making it low-maintenance. For bedsheets, we interchange between linen and bamboo. Pictured here are our linen sheets. Linen has a matte finish with inherent and natural creases, giving it a more lived-in look. We love linen for its weighted feel which gives us a snug and cosy feel. While linen sheets are a little more textured, they get softer with each wash. Did you know? It used to be a tradition for European families to pass down their linen sheets as heirlooms. Vintage linen has a soft, luxurious texture that's hard to replicate mechanically and is very strong and durable, lasting for generations.
The bedside wall lamp provides soft ambient lighting at night, adding to the cosiness. It’s also perfect for when we need minimal lighting to go to the washroom at night. When planning for the electrical points, we ensured the light switch and plug are within easy reach, so we can conveniently charge our phones and toggle the lights.
Here are some of our bedside essentials — a book and hand cream. We love winding down at the end of the day with a good read.
