  • 3d design of our masterbedroom. We decided to keep our masterbedroom simple and decided against fabricating a customised bedhead or closing up the recess wall like what we did for our living room. We also decided against having a vanity table (mama🦁 is a sahm and seldom wear make up) or customised side tables. This is also a way to keep within our reno budget as guests would not be coming into our room often. We just needed a bedroom that was soothing to us to end the day.
  • we decided to hack away the old parquet and use vinyl for our room floors. The old parquet was unfortunately very worn out and there were gaps in between. We also hear that parquet was high maintenance and scratches easily, therefore we opt to change to vinyl. You can see how dirty the vinyl was during reno stage and no matter how i cleaned with vaccum or mop, i can feel a powdery feeling under the feet. chose a greyish wood coloured vinyl as i really wanted a warm tone in the rooms.
  • What i do not rgret is spending money to engage vinyl guards to clean the vinyl floors and to put a protective layer over it. i engaged vinyl guards after hearing good reviews of them. they were responsive to enquiries and was efficient and professional when it came down to cleaning. the protective layer also makes future cleaning easier and the vinyl is smooth under the feet.
  • when discussing with ID on the room's carpentry design, we had told her that we wanted a L shaped wardrobe as that was what we envisioned the space to look like and also the previous owner did an L shaped wardrobe. ID then proposed that a wardrobe spanning the whole length of the wall opposite our bed. She said that it would make the room look bigger and storage would definitely be more than a L shaped wardrobe. In this aspect, i am thankful that we went with an ID who can propose new ideas instead of a contractor who would just build what you propose.. As homeowners, sometimes what we want might not be the best solution.
  • we made storage a priority. we told ID what we wanted to store in these cupboards and tried to visualise what goes where and also which area should contain what kind of clothes for better utilisation of storage.
  • we decided to go with a fabric laminate for a more contemporary look. we also decided to go with recessed door handles as it gives the space a sleek look. also most importantly, it does not take up space cos i can just imagine myself catching my shirt sleeves in them when i walk between the wardrobe and the bed!
  • the unique feature of our master bedroom is that we had concealed our bathroom in the midst of the carpentry!
  • this was the original grilles of our room. actually we had decided to reuse them in an order to keep within the budget. However, i felt that the view was too beautiful to be hindered by these bulky thick grilles and bit the bullet to change them to invisible grilles! No regrets spending this additional cost!
  • We also hacked the ledge's old laminate as it was peeling and faded from the sun's exposure. We decided to use Kompacplus for our ledge and this provides an area where my husband can work at while appreciating the view!
  • Initally we wanted to use blinds for the room but after asking vendors, it was mentioned that it would not be recommended in our rooms. why? this is because our windows are curved. if we use blinds, we had to use 3 different partitions as blinds cannot be on a curved rod. This option is also expensive and impractical. in the end, we reused our old house's curtains to keep within budget and thankfully they are blackout curtains as the sunlight really makes the room bright as early as 7am!
  • We also bought a storage bed in order for more storaged area. you can see that we placed the aircon unit above the door. though the windflow is not directly blowing at the bed and the room takes a while too cool down, we decided on this placement after ID mentioned that placing at the door area makes aircon maintenance easier and less likely to ruin stuff as compared to say putting it right above carpentry or the bed. ID was right as this unit started leaking water due to condensation issues. Thank God that it just dripped onto the floor instead of our bed.
  • love waking up to this view in the mornings...😍
