  • Hi! I am Anna from @aiyacanna and welcome to our home :) We officially moved in about 5 months ago, and this is a 7 years old resale 5-room HDB in the north-east region of Singapore. The moment we visited this house during our flat-hunting journey, we already knew this was a flat that would suit us very well as there were minimal built-ins, a good unblocked view and we loved the tiles and wooden frames that the previous owner did. We engaged a main contractor for our renovation, as we were quite sure of what we wanted in our home. The colour palette we went for is walnut wood with neutral colours, some fluted glass elements and we used forest green as an accent colour throughout the home. We chose this palette as it gave us a sense of calm and it's just easy on the eyes.
  • This is the floor plan of our flat, the previous owner changed the kitchen entrance from the brown part to the green part which we think makes a lot of sense as it opens up the space visually. We also loved that the flat is in a rectangular layout with no weird corners, as it makes space planning ideal. Besides that, we did not make any changes to the layout and retained all the rooms.
  • This is just a view of what you will see outside our flat, our digital door viewer/doorbell, and our door was re-wrapped with a moon-like texture wrap, befitting of it's name - Moonstone.
  • At our entryway, there is a bench made by my dad-in-law (super talented!), where guests can put their bags or can sit at when wearing their shoes.
  • In the original layout, this was where the kitchen entrance was supposed to be. It is now replaced with a window and below that, is our shoe cabinet.
  • And this is where the new kitchen entrance is, by using glass doors, it allows light to shine through thus making the area feel spacious while still containing the cooking fumes when we whip up our meals.
  • A quick peek at the kitchen, it is the classic galley kitchen. We have two counters, one for cooking and the other side serves as the dry counter. We rounded the edges for most carpentry in our home because I am super clumsy.
  • Just a close up on the space that I have fallen asleep many times without realizing, a comfortable sofa is a life changer.
  • Moving on to the rooms!
  • For our study room, there is no built in carpentry at all, we slowly procured each item in the picture including the bay window which we put together ourselves.
  • We have placed items we love on display here, stay tuned for more updates in later posts as this room is still a work in progress.
  • Our common toilet has a clean and neutral look to it, with creamier hues for our tiles and vanity counter. For both toilets, we used integrated sinks in sintered stone to prevent the problem of mould growing around the usual over mount and under mount sinks. We also chose mirror cabinets so that we have ample storage space.
  • Jumping straight to our master bedroom toilet, this has slightly darker vibes as we used dark grey tiles for the wall, and with the LED-lit acrylic panels, we often feel like we are in a resort toilet due to the cozy vibes (though much smaller in size haha). We used forest green subway tiles for an accent in the bathroom so that it does not look too plain.
  • Finally, our bedroom. We wanted to keep it as a space where we could get quality rest after a long day, so we do not have any TVs or projectors here. Our l-shaped wardrobe is combined with an extended dressing table, and we incorporated the fluted glass with black frame here as well. P.S the 360deg swivel mirror you see there is super useful!!!
  • The crucial space where we recharge, here you see the forest green accent colour again as we want to make sure that there is a sense of flow and connectivity in the house. I shall end here for today, we hope you enjoyed our brief home tour and see you guys in the next post! You can also find us at @aiyacanna on Instagram :)
