  • Hello everyone, we're J x L and welcome to our cosy home! As our last names are Hoo and Seah, that's how we came up with @hoos.home.seah (whose home sia) :D. We have a 4-room resale HDB in Central Singapore. As first-time home owners, we initially did not have a home theme in mind. But after countless hours of browsing, we realised we veered towards homes that has a little luxurious feel, but still looked cosy & clean. Hence, our cosy lux home was born!
  • We looked into the Fengshui of the house for a general peace of mind and were given several restrictions including where our TV could be placed. It could not be against any of the walls, but had to be right in the middle. As the wife is very cautious about aesthetics and any unsightly wires spoiling the looks of the home, our ID proposed a built in TV console with storage that became the centrepiece of the home. Many friends have asked if the console swivels around so that we can watch TV in the dining room while we eat, but sadly no it does not haha. But hey, maybe in our next home right?
  • Our home main door leads directly into the big open space with an open kitchen, bar, living and dining space. As we love having friends over, we knew the originally small living room space would not suffice. We decided to hack down a bedroom wall as well as the kitchen wall to make a larger living space and open kitchen, which created this big open main space of the home.
  • Due to the limited size of the kitchen after hacking down the walls to convert it into and open kitchen with island, our ID proposed a bar/dry pantry area to house our oven and wine chiller. It comes with a fluted panel sliding door to conceal our study space and also hides the bomb shelter away.
  • We're definitely nowhere near calling ourselves wine or coffee connoisseurs but still love it when we relax and unwind at home, and of course, the mandatory cuppa every morning. Hence, we loved the idea of converting this area into a bar/dry pantry space, complete with a built-in cupboard to hide the microwave and store other appliances.
  • Our dining area is most used when we host people over, and can fit 8-10 pax if we switch up the chairs to stools. We also have our Fengshui art that was carefully sourced to ensure that it still fits with the aesthetics of the home.
  • We're very happy with how our ID transformed the place into this layout with ample space. :)
  • This was the original HDB floorpan, with an odd and small layout. Our biggest issue was with the dining area tucked away in a corner next to the bomb shelter with no window and natural light. Not only would the bomb shelter door limit the dining table size, which would not fit our hosting plans, the lack of windows and natural light reassured us that we would not want our dining area situated here. Hence, our ID proposed converting it into a study space, together with a bar/dry pantry area.
  • Thanks for reading about our home! Look forward to sharing more in the weeks to come :)
