  • Welcome to the gateway of our abode, where functionality meets style in the entryway of our open-concept home! When we were looking for our second home, we had a few checkboxes we had in mind that we hoped we could check off, and this resale home was just it! When we first saw it, we fell in love at first sight (or rather first viewing), so much so that we put in a deposit right after the first viewing. TLDR: / hacked down the walls to make it look more spacious and airy / made use of the recces area and replaced the initial wall with half carpentry for maximum shoe storage since I've tons of shoes haha / incorporated an arch to feature more curves around the home
  • About the checkboxes, our non-negotiables were: 1) Open and squarish layout ideally with living and dining areas back to back vs side by side 2) 1 massive walk-in wardrobe for all my clothes haha (fun fact: the walk-in is where the original master bedroom is) 3) Open kitchen with the option to "close it off" as and when we cook You can see now why we fell in love. TLDR: / original 3 bedroom + 1 study allowed us (or rather me) to have an actual walk-in wardrobe without "cutting out" any rooms / placement of the rooms, kitchen, living, and dining area was the ideal arrangement for us / foyer area is a plus point so it doesn't "eat in" to the living space (bought by previous owners already)
  • Now on to my personal favourite part of the house - the kitchen! (this was taken for a featured shoot!)
  • Our open kitchen is the beating heart and statement piece of our home! From whipping up a quick snack to hosting epic dinner parties, friends and family can gather, chat, and maybe even lend a hand (or just grab a drink from the fridge). So when I say my open kitchen is the statement of my house, I'm not kidding. It's where the magic—and the mess—happens, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Hidden feature alert~ I wanted an island in the middle so it doesn't look so bare since the kitchen is of a squarish layout. It also serves as an extra counter and storage space. Also, it's ~moveable~ so I can shift it around or even out of the kitchen if need be! TLDR: / Installed bi-folded glass panels and doors so we can contain the smell in the kitchen when we cook without compromising the open-concept / The huge mirror fridge serves my need to compartmentalise everything, and it makes the place look even bigger / Island in the middle is movable~
  • Since we love to host, it was essential for us to have a 2m long and wide enough table with sufficient space between each chair. I think we tried 10 different types of tables and chairs to ensure that this configuration is the one for us! TLDR: / Do take note of the legs of the furniture to ensure the chairs can be pushed entirely in, and sit side by side when you're shortlisting your pick to see if you can sit in or get up with ease!
  • We have a very long wall connecting our dining and living areas, so we decided to spruce the place up with a custom circular mirror and a "floating" table to display my husband's collection of KAWS figurines, and for me, flowers. TLDR: / Decorate blank spaces or walls with decorations and pops of colour so you can always switch it out if you're worried to commit to a "permanent" fixture that's too "colourful" - works well especially for neutral homes
  • We spend most of our time in the living room since we're such homebodies, so getting a very comfortable sofa was essential to us! Our friend told us about this amazing sofa and we just had to experience it for ourselves. Oh boy, we've never sat on a more comfortable sofa. Making its debut as one of our top 5 most expensive furniture, the King Cloud V Recliner Sofa is truly made for a king. TLDR: / We basically bought a very expensive sofa with no regrets
  • Other than being a substitute bed where we've fallen asleep on countless of times, The King Cloud V Recliner Sofa also offers smart accessories integrated like the Sonos Speaker, Wireless Charging Table, and a concealed Subwoofer. TLDR: / Yes, still raving about this life-changing sofa. / And yes, you feel like you're in the movie with its amazing sound system
  • For our TV feature wall, we wanted to keep it simple and not so "distracting" to let other elements of the house pop! We rounded the wall and the console as well to give it a soft touch and minimised any wire exposure so it'll remain neat. This picture was taken for a feature shoot, but the console is now filled with... consoles, decorations, and a mini karaoke system!
  • Now let's look at our master bedroom featuring Zhaocai's very own a-door-able cat door! We had to keep leaving the door slightly ajar in our first home for ZC to walk in and out, so this helps!
  • This was one of my non-negotiables: a walk-in wardrobe big enough to house a 12-door wardrobe with an accessory island and study/vanity table so it was definitely a dream come true for me! This room was originally the master bedroom, but I wanted the walk-in to be the point of entry and connected to the toilet instead of our bedroom. Also, it was bigger anyways :p Opted for dark panels instead of clear ones so I won't have to deal with the sight of different coloured clothing against one another. My clothes are currently organised by type for each cabinet, and it's all rods with no drawers to hold all my "going out" clothes. TDLR: / Switched out original master bedroom to be a walk-in haven / Wardrobes are all for hangers with no drawers since I have a chest in the main bedroom for home clothes / Study and vanity area for me to work among my clothes, accessories, and bags aka my type of heaven :p
  • I even have a full-length mirror (under the aircon) for my occasional OOTD photos and it's also... wait for it...
  • Hidden feature alert~ A concealed door to the master bathroom! I wanted to hide the toilet door and what better way to do it than with a full-ass mirror?! (Pardon the different photo colouring since it was taken at a different time)
  • Opted for a fluted glass door that connects our master bedroom to the walk-in, and also incorporated the arch design yet again!
  • I would say our bedroom is rather simple and we would like to keep it that way after all it's a place for us to unwind after a long day! We also chose to have a chest of drawers instead of full-length wardrobes to "open up" the space more and not make it look too "closed off". Who knows, we might switch it out if I continue to buy more clothes and need more space :p
  • We have two other spare bedrooms - one is a spare guestroom for (drunk or needy) friends, and the other is E's man cave! Featuring a little corner of his man cave with some of his favourite figurines and snippets of his hobbies. I might do a full review of his cave for another time, but for now, that concludes #zeehouseof_ home tour! We'll see you at the next one x
