  • This week, we are introducing our bathrooms, an essential space that everyone uses more than 1x a day. ☺️ We adopted a grey and wood theme for our bathrooms, similar to our overall theme of the house. While we didn’t modify the layout of the bathrooms, we changed the tiles, vanity cabinet and fittings. For tiles, we picked a dark grey rectangular design for both flooring and most walls. We then picked a small squarish lighter tone grey tile for the feature wall to serve as a design highlight. Both tiles are textured and rough to avoid slipping in the wet shower, but also to add a little rustic and natural /raw elements to our bathrooms. To give off a cute luxurious vibe, we opted for a top mount sink for our master bathroom despite knowing that there is more maintenance efforts required for such a sink. The 90cm round touch screen mirror with a straight edge also added lots of character to the space. In addition to the demisting function, it also comes with 3 lights settings - warm, warm white, cool white, enabling us to pick the colour that matches our mood.
  • To balance out the coolness of the grey tiles, we chose a wooden laminate for our vanity cabinet to add some warmth and contrasting effects to the space. The furnishings and fittings are kept minimal and simple, with white toilet seats, dustbin and toilet brush, coupled with this matt gun metal finished tap, bidet, towel rack, and toilet roll holder.
  • A close-up view of this gorgeous top mount sink with marbling effects and our chrome finished tap. ✌🏼 Personal view after using this top mount sink for a few months now: We love it and honestly, the large rectangular sink made the water splashes a little more manageable than expected. To avoid excess water from accumulating at the bottom of the sink, we placed a towel right next to it and simply do a quick wipe down at those areas after using it. This little extra efforts will extend the longevity of our good-looking sink and bathrooms, so why not. ✌🏼 The vanity table top is made with the same quartz material and design as our kitchen countertop (see our post on our Kitchen for more details).
  • For shower mix, we opted for a more luxurious rain shower and handheld shower head combination. The wet shower area is also separated by these full glass doors to keep the rest of the bathroom dry. A cleaning / maintenance tip for these glass doors is to use a wiper to wipe down excess water after the last shower. This action will help reduce stubborn water marks and makes cleaning easier. While we clean the bathrooms weekly, on a monthly basis, a deep clean can be done by using baking powder mixed with lemon to scrub these glass doors and make them sparkling again.✨
  • For the toiletries, we requested our ID for a half height ledge instead of a niche or floating ledge. We wanted something minimalist yet different from other bathroom designs, and we are totally in love with the end product! 😍 Such simple, elegant and functional design and easy to clean as well.
  • Right outside the shower area is our double layer towel rack, which makes it easy to retrieve after stepping out from the shower. The only minor regrets we had was the lack of hooks to hang our clothes in the bathroom. But this is easily resolved by simply adding 3M hooks to the back of our doors. Homeowners, do consider adding more hooks in the bathroom unless you don’t mind putting your clothes on top of toilet bowl 😅.
  • Now let’s move on to the common bathroom. The common bathroom is very similar with the master bathroom except for 3 key differences: Firstly, the size of the common bathroom is smaller than the master’s. As such, the glass doors open outwards rather than inwards. This may not be ideal but it’s the most sensible way to avoid people getting “trapped” in the shower. We could have opted for no glass doors but due to our strong preference to keep the wet and dry areas distinct, we chose to go with these glass doors.
  • Due to the space constraints in the common bath shower, we also could not do the half height shower ledge as what we did for the master’s. Instead, we went for these triangular floating shelves made with the same iQuartz design as our table top, maximising this small space. We added some green leafy here for some added natural vibes and colour.
  • Secondly, we opted for a more dramatic tile for the feature wall in this common bathroom. Each tile comprises a mix variations of grey, and comes in very textured feel. We were a little apprehensive initially when choosing this tile as the first 3D render didn’t looked great. However, after changing the arrangement of the tiles, we were all in and no regrets. Finally, instead of a top mount sink, we went for the classic undermount sink for easy cleaning when guests come over. The toilet furnishings for this bathroom are also in the standard chrome finish for that simple, classic and fuss free look to complement the dramatic feature wall. That’s all for our bathrooms and hope you find some inspirations for yours. Follow us on IG @tanhoms for more home contents! 😍
