  • The living area, which is part of the larger living/dining room, is what we called the entertainment centre. It is where we entertain our guests, and also ourselves whenever we are in the mood for some Netflix or just good old bossa nova. To achieve this, we've paired the LG Oled Evo with the B&O Beosound Stage soundbar. We are greatly impressed by their picture & sound quality respectively & how minimalist they look. It is a match made in heaven!
  • Instead of the usual TV console, we chose to install this modular String Shelving System from Sweden. We got the idea from pictures we saw on Pinterest. The beauty of this system is that we can reconfigure or add to it if the need arises. We can also bring it along should we decide to move one day. The shelves are filled with stuff we adore & souvenirs from our travels. Some of our favourite lamps are also on display. When we do not wish to use the pendant light, we would turn these on to give the room a different mood & look.
  • Those of you eagle-eyed would have noticed that we had tinkered with the decorations on the shelves in the pictures. We just love to experiment with different items & positions. I guess we'll never be satisfied with staying the same.
  • We like it that we could create different vibes with different lamps. Here is one example. We will probably talk about some of our lamps sometime in the future so keep your eyes peeled.
  • This is easily our best find from Carousell, the Diplomat Chair from the 60s by Finn Juhl. The leather is original while the teak had been refinished. It was initially manufactured to furnish numerous Danish embassies and consulates around the world. The piece beside is the Cuba Chair, designed by Morten Gottler in 1997 & manufactured by Carl Hansen & Son. One of the reasons we got this was because it is foldable, ideal for when we need more space but not more chairs.
  • Another inspiration we took from Pinterest was to design a gallery wall behind the sofa. One general rule that we learned was that the 'width' of the gallery should be about two thirds the length of the sofa in order for it to look pleasing to the eye. The pendant lamp is the Eos series by Umage. According to the manufacturer's notes, it is made with approximately 4050 all-natural, 100% sustainably sourced goose feathers with textile & steel.
  • Picked this up during a work trip to Sri Lanka. The Mayura Raksha Mask is believed to bring peace, harmony and wealth, and at the same time ward off evil spirits, according to the superstition of Sri Lankan culture. There are three beautiful peacocks on the sides and top of the mask. Each wooden mask is hand made & hand painted.
  • A living room decor wouldn't be complete without a floor lamp. Our choice is the Gubi Grashoppa produced by Greta M. Grossman in 1947. It is such a cute lamp!
  • Our sofa is a 2.5 seater from Bolia. We opted for tan leather because we've never had one before. We thought the colour matches well with the rest of the decor.
  • The Airy coffee table from Muuto & the grey Linie Design handmade wool rug rounded off the living area setup. We have mentioned in our Housewarming article that we are fans of Scandinavian design. This is best exemplified in the living area! We are hopeful that most of the items will last us a long time and better yet, if we could pass them on to the next generation.
