  • Welcome Welcome! First view once you arrived at our entryway. It used to be an exclusive balcony for this unit till HDB decided to have the lift upgrade many many years back. Hence it has now became the entryway for us.
  • All feelings are WELCOME in Sohtedious house! Having four children of different characters can be a challenge. Hence, it is also important for us adults to regulate our feelings and to guide our children through their growing up. It is a never ending learning journey when it comes to parenting.
  • Digital door lock is another non negotiable item. We had many good positive experiences from our first home and so it is one of the appliances that is on our top list. Why: - one item less to carry while we are out - don need to worry of being locked out - easy accessible when hands are full of stuff - no experience of technical issue - giving access to family members - children able to help with unlocking the doors (need to be caution on educating)
  • Keeping our entryway minimal and a loose furniture for our display with sufficient storage space to keep our children's daily school bags. This will help keeps our walkway and balcony uncluttered. We had also requested to segregate our balcony to the rest of our home. To create a contrast, we had a wavy curve for our balcony tiles.
  • Something worth to highlight is our 180 degree multipurpose window. We opted for such windows to have a panoramic view from our balcony. Though the view is just blocks of HDB, the objective is simple. It is to allow ample natural lights to flow in with good amount of wind entering to our unit. There are comments from the elderlies showing their concerns of how dangerous it can get, given that we have young children. Our children generally understood the danger, hence they knew that they cannot stand or play near the balcony.
  • Lighting plays a part in creating the right ambience. Here in our entryway, we installed a track light and hagga light (coveless light) for their own purpose. Track light was installed to spot light our display items or future photo frame. While the hagga light was installed to light up our balcony, when we have gathering. Sometimes, even playing MJ. Not too bad!
  • We had a very good flow of sun ray flowing in at different season. At certain time of the year (1st half of the year), the morning till noon sun could get very crazy. So we installed a wabi sabi theme blinds to block off the heat but still letting in good amount of light in during the day. Here's our simple entryway = balcony. Anything caught your eyes?
