  • Peep! This is our master bedroom. It is NOT the best looking space in the house, but it is definitely our most comfortable one. When doing up the room, we were considering our lifestyle and tips from the elderly (our parents) so much we forgot about the aesthetic aspect. Sharing a few of the tips we heard all around!
  • Firstly, one of the most important advice my mother shared is to choose a steady bedframe that does not shake when your partner tosses and turns. Having interrupted sleep from each other's movements can create a buildup of frustration and that's true! So, here's a storage bedframe that surely is steady and stable. We both also love firm beds so we went into the shop and asked for the firmest bed and agreed on it immediately. The shopkeeper asked us THREE times are we sure because it is really firm in her opinion and "we are still young" LOL but we are like yes firm is best. Marriage tip here is, consider your husband's interest, especially his back that behaves like a 80 year old one.
  • The other marriage advice we got was to consider our sleeping preferences and prioritize comfort for sleeping over ideals (like cuddling to sleep). So, we decided we will use separate blankets early on because he tends to kick blankets while I shiver in 23 degrees aircon LOL. It's quite a sound advice because when we sleep under the same blanket in hotels we find ourselves fighting over the blanket in our sleep because I really love to wrap myself up (am a blanket thief). So here's a picture of all the different extra pillows and blankets we have, each for a specific reason. And yes that is my childhood chou chou! Anybody still holding on to your chou chou?
  • The husband's corner, all he needs is a pocket for his spectacles and phone charger. Love how simple and minimalist he is LOL. The advice we received? Keep it simple and make every item purposeful. Start from little, examine your lifestyle, live in a little bit before deciding what to get.
  • The wife's corner, just a cut out in the ledge to put any drinks and a frame that is mainly there to prevent the blinds from hitting against the bedframe which can sound annoying into the night. Again, everything is in our bedroom for a purpose!
  • I surely need my night lamp too. I did not consider placing wall mounted lamps even though I saw some beautiful ones because we might change the placement of our bed in future if need be (like if we need to put a baby cot in future). This night lamp stayed with me through the years and I love its convenience so I brought it along from my previous bedroom.
  • Featuring our taobao sideboard that gave us so much grief because it was so difficult to build, we ended up going on Carousell looking for a handyman to finish it for us. He mentioned the workmanship of the sideboard is quite poor and we agree. It's a miss on Taobao for this to us. Give it 2 more years and I'll be itching to change this out! I chose a sideboard instead of a vanity table because I can never sit down to put my makeup or skincare so here's one for me to be on the go. The marriage advice here? Don't lose your wedding bands, have a specific designated spot to put it at everyday.
  • A friend bought us this stuffed miffy bunnies because our pet rabbits are black. Love how it really looks like them hehe.
  • And we received this on the very first day we moved in. I love how it illuminates differently across the day! Marriage advice: fill your room with whatever that is meaningful to you and your marriage. Honestly, this ledge has so much potential for styling though but I don't know, tips please?
  • Seamless was the keyword we gave our ID when deciding the carpentry so he decided on these cut-in handles for us. We love the look and practicality of it! Final advice we got: minimize dust, minimize clutter, minimize chores, happier marriage!
