  • Hello fellow homeowners again! Welcome to our balcony and service yard! We haven’t really mentioned much about this area of the house so let’s do it in this post, shall we? ✨ For a starter, we have a pretty long balcony (almost 5 metres long) and it offers a nice view of the neighbourhood as our unit is located on the mid-level. The wide and spacious balcony is one of the reasons we fell in love with the house when we did the viewing. There are currently no furnitures in this space as we haven’t found the ones we like which are also outdoor appropriate. Affordable and pretty outdoor furnitures are hard to find unfortunately. Do we agree? 🥹 This is one end of the balcony, offering a view of our Tableguy bookshelves which is just right next to the balcony. We installed a corner fan at the balcony to provide some ventilation during the day; the fan can be rotated to face the balcony or the dining/ living area to cool down the room when the weather gets too hot. It’s a small but mighty fan and we are so glad we installed this little guy!
  • This is the other end of the balcony, currently absolutely empty 😂 We decided to go with tiles instead of decking which was our initial design plan as the costs of tiles vs wood deck were comparable. In addition, some of the original tiles in this area were already mouldy so we were not comfortable with putting the deck onto these mouldy tiles, and where cleaning would be a challenge with the decking. No regrets to retiling the balcony and we love how compatible these tiles are with the vinyl flooring we picked for the living room.
  • There is no designated service yard in our house so we are using the balcony instead. This portable clothes hanging rack is where we hang our clothes to dry after washing them. It is simple, functional and very affordable. It can be extended to 2metres long, perfect for the linen and towels washing days. We always tell our friends that this is the best buy for our house and we’re not kidding 😂
  • This is how our balcony/ service yard looks like from our living room. The clothes hanging rack can be folded and stored away when not in use, but we mostly just leave it there unless we have guests visiting. The zipblinds are from the previous owner, and they are still in good working condition. Although they need to be operated manually, we chose not to replace them as these are not cheap and we don’t have an issue with having to pull these blinds ourselves. Money saving tips for homeowners - you don’t need to replace every single thing in the house unless they have aged or show signs of wear and tear that are likely to cause issues down the road.
  • This is the side by side view of the balcony and living room. The grey walls and floors are perfect match. I just got to include this photo because I love the poster I got from Bangkok 😍
  • When the zipblinds are up, we get to enjoy the unblocked view of our hood! It’s a vibe when night falls, and the neighbouring buildings lights sparkle like stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Our whole balcony in full view from the dining/ living room. It looks extremely spacious from this view 😍 Not so fun facts - while these wide and long balcony space is amazing, the efforts required to clean these mega balcony glass doors cannot be underestimated 😂 especially when Mrs has a little OCD when it comes to housekeeping matters. We are constantly on the lookout for outdoor appropriate furnitures for our balcony. Let us know if there are any good suggestions! Thank you!
