  • Welcome to our Closet Office, aka Mister's Mancave. This space is solely for Mr. A, where he WFH on certain days, chilling, gaming, and sometimes even napping. A recap: Our home is a 4 Room Resale HDB with only 2 rooms as the previous owners hacked away the 3rd room to enlarge the living area. The spacious living area is 1 of the factors that attracted us, and we wanted to keep it that way. The 2nd spare room is a kid's room, which we shared in our previous post. Since we don't have another spare room to create a designated home office, with some careful space planning, we were able to carve out our own closet office - cloffice.
  • Here's a before and after photo for you to have a clearer picture of how and where we carved out our functional cloffice.
  • The thought of having a closet office can feel claustrophobic and uninviting. But with the help of built-ins, we are able to maximise this space and transform it into a sleek and comfortable work space.
  • As you enter the home office, it gives you a different vibe from the usual neutral colours you see in the rest of our home. Mr. A chose a darker theme, which makes the office stand out. Darker tones also gives a more sleek and polished feel. If you are wondering what is the size of this office, the floor space is roughly 150cm x 180cm. It fits a 60cm depth computer table and an Ergotune's chair comfortably. If Mr. A can nap in here, it should be a decent and comfortable space, right? :P We chose a closed office concept so Mr. A can have his personal space when he needs it. Usually, he leaves the door open.
  • To maximise the space, we make use of vertical spaces by adding fluted cabinets above the table to store his things and keep the table uncluttered.
  • The wall on the left is painted in dark grey to match the overall dark theme.
  • Next question you might have: Is the room warm, and does it have enough ventilation? Sometimes, especially during hotter months. But we have a side fan to help cool down and ventilate the space.
  • Extra storage for him to put his things.
  • We have a wire holder just below the table for neater wire management.
  • With a little imagination and creativity, you can create a functional office in even the smallest nooks of the home. :) Stay connected on Instagram @rachieehome.
