  • Aloha! I am ZH, a happily married guy who is living in a 3 room BTO, which has been our matrimony home since 2016! I am currently working in the government sector while my wife is working as an Accounts Executive. We choose to have our first home in Punggol as we wanted to stay in somewhere “new” and away from where we used to stay. We were pretty lucky to get the project and unit that we wanted in our first try! I guess not much couples were interested in Punggol back then. Haha! I would say our location is pretty great with an array of amenities nearby. Short distance to the mall and mrt, also having a supermarket and hawker just below your block!  We engaged a contractor for our house renovations instead of an ID as we had an idea of what we would like our house to look like (no specific theme actually). This saved us at least $10k. Tip - Have a few sessions with various ID to get a better concept and idea of what you are looking for. Without further ado, welcome to our humble abode!
  • As our unit is pretty small at only 710 sqft, we have really limited space around hence our main objective was to make the space look much bigger than it really is.
  • First up, we have our kitchen on the left when you enter! We hacked away the full wall and made it into an open concept kitchen to make the whole space look bigger. This also allows us to have a glimpse of the whole living area at a glance.
  • We had the most carpentry done up in the kitchen as we needed lots of storage space for the cutleries/pots and pans and storage of dry goods. I currently have an obsession of collecting cute cups and filling up the cabinet with lots of snacks! Haha!
  • The kitchen is basically my hideout! I love cooking and whipping up meals for everyone. I am also currently hooked on our new coffee machine. Coffee is life to the both of us! A cup a day keeps the doctor away! Can you smell the aroma of freshly brewed coffee? The smell is a really perk me up for us! :>
  • Some simple dishes that I made recently :>
  • We also have a counter table which we don't really use at all. Our concept was to have our breakfast here, haha! It didn’t happen as it was more practical to have our meals at the dining table instead lol...
  • Our simple dining area and the area that we hang out most when we have friends over.
  • As you can tell, the theme of our kitchen & living area is BLUE! We went with a few different shades of blue to make the whole house looks more lively. As we paid for paint job, I felt that we should paint every wall with colours. We are here 80% of the time when we are home. I really wanted a feature wall made of bricks. Hence, we went ahead with purchasing the bricks from JB and got our contractors to tile it for us. We probably spend most of our leisure time here just catching up on new dramas/movies.
  • Oh did I also mention the pretty view from the living area? May spot a rainbow if lucky.
  • A narrow corridor leading to both rooms and common toilet. That’s a DIY rainbow that my wife did :>
  • Moving on, this is my wife's favourite part of the house. Study room + workout room + my wife's hideout place! She spends most of her time here during the wfh phase previously.
  • Through the pandemic, it made me realise how important it was to have a specific area just for work.  Working in a specific area makes you more productive as well.
  • My wife was also pretty into DIY during the pandemic – did Punch Needle Kit and also knitted some stuff. Oh, also look at some of the figurines she collected. :> Btw, just wanna introduce Eubiq! It has been the best investment we made for the house as it really makes the area looks organised without the use of multiple extension cords with multiple plugs.
  • Lastly, our master bedroom! The only request my wife had was to have a vanity table in the room. She is pretty pleased with how it looks :>
  • Main bathroom – searched high and low for this bathtub due to the size. Just built in some cabinets and mirror in this bathroom.
  • We did not want our bedroom to be cluttered, hence minimal carpentry done. A little regret having a platform bed as it can get really tedious changing the bedsheets. :<
  • Pretty view everywhere whenever I looked out of the window! My favourite past time would be looking at the sky during the day! Overall, we are really happy with how the whole space turned out! Didn’t really splurge much on the renovations as we do not see ourselves living here for a long time. We would definitely shift to another house in another location in future! Even though we have been staying here for more than 5 years, I feel that a home is always a work in progress! Hope to share our new house next! :>
