  • Hey everyone! Welcome to our cosy minimalist home that we affectionately refer to as “Paradise Falls”, inspired by the movie “Up” 🏡🎈 Curated with “living simply, loving deeply” in mind, let us take you through our little Paradise Falls! ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
  • Colour Palette: The skeletal colour palette of our home mainly consists of off-whites, dark & light wood and hints of light grey 🤍🤎🩶 Design Element: “Fluted” is a design that you will be able to spot in our home in varying textures. The artworks and cushion covers were carefully selected for a more cohesive look. We love the pop of colour here too! :)
  • The tutu kueh & tortoise, which represent us (Mr & Mrs respectively), were gifts given to us years ago and we had been anticipating to display them at our home since. As we believe in curating our home with meaningful decor/furnishing as much as possible, the moment when we finally got to display them at home felt extra symbolic, like the coming together of something that represent us in the space that we built together 🫶🏻
  • We love these cushion covers because: 1. Along with the “throw”, they cohesively display a hint of the light & dark wood and grey tones around our home 🤎🩶 2. The design ties in perfectly with the fluted details around our home too! :) The “throw” is repurposed from a shawl that was also a gift. Again, we enjoy trying our best to use what we have to add touches to our home 🏡
  • As you can see, we don’t have a TV in our living room ❌📺 We did not have the habit of watching the television back in our family homes, and did not want to risk making it become an under-utilised appliance. We wanted to take our time to settle into the new routines here before deciding if we wanted to incorporate it into our lifestyle. However, to keep our options open in case we change our minds in future, we got our electrician to include an electrical point where the TV would most likely sit if we had one.
  • To watch our movies/shows/videos, we do so on our ipads (a habit that we continued), or on our projector 📽️
  • Here’s our projector that our dear friends gifted us for housewarming! 🤎 The visuals & audio are both amazing - there’s no need for an external speaker to enjoy a good movie session :)
  • Opting not to have a TV in our living room has given us way more perks than we imagined! It is now a highly versatile space with endless possibilities that can unfold 🙌🏻 1. It is spacious enough for us to exercise here 🏋🏻‍♂️🤸🏻‍♀️
  • 2. When we host larger groups, we are able to easily stretch our dining area into the living area 🍽️
  • They converge into one continuous communal space 🤎
  • 3. We’re both dancers, so this space also occasionally transforms into our little stage :) 🩰
  • The only built-in carpentry we have in our living room is our settee, which is also the very first carpentry item that we decided on. We love its versatility and practicality! 1. It adds 6-8 extra seating spaces when we host large gatherings 2. We get to chill/read/enjoy the view & sunset here 3. It gives us extra storage space (more on this in the next section) 4. It acts as a low “countertop” space to sun/air our cushions/bags etc 5. It serves as a “catch-all” platform when we need to remove things from the ground in the living room before vacuuming/mopping 6. We use it as “floor table” when we feel like working on the floor while stretching As we continue to live here, we believe that the ways we use our settee will evolve (maybe storage space for kids’ items in future? 👀), but there is no doubt that it has been a very functional addition to our home! 🏡✨
  • We opted for casement/flip up storage instead of drawers to maximise storage space & ensure that we don’t have to cater extra clearance in front to pull out the drawers. We’re using heavy duty soft closing hinges to prevent the doors from slamming.
  • We currently store our exercise equipment like yoga mats, foam roller and weights (as it’s built on the floor, we don’t have to worry about how much weight it can hold!)
  • And finally, ending it off with some golden hour hues that we look forward to eagerly. Having grown up in a direct North-South facing unit, I have never had views like this at my family home (though I really appreciated the breeze we get to enjoy throughout the year 😊). Getting to see the beautiful & ever-changing shadows that the sunlight casts on corners of our slightly West-facing home now is something that makes us so very much in awe 🌅 We hope the novelty of chasing sunsets at home will never diminish with time ❤️ And that’s all for our living room! Stay tuned as we share more about the rest of our home ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
