  • In this post we will be sharing more on our cosy dining space! We spent weeks hunting for furniture, heading down to Tan Boon Liat for their myriad of shops available and then scouring the Tai Seng area but none resonated with us. It came down to Castlery with their quality products and excellent service albeit at what some may consider, premium. Ultimately this is a space where we would spend a lot of time and ensuring we and guests alike would feel at home and comfortable, is key.
  • This was the original wall of the living/dining area, it had a recessed wall which would be a problem to have our furniture flushed against the wall at the corner.
  • So we got our ID to create an arch to give the space some personality and fill up the space on the right so our sofa would sit flushed nicely against the wall.
  • Glad we got the chance to see the wall plastering transform itself. Renovation Tip: Use a torchlight or your phone to shine against the surface to check if the plastering works are done nicely - smooth & no unevenness!
  • Our dining space realized! Featuring a stunning Acacia Wood dining table and a matching cabinet with curve designed doors. In designing this area, we chose to sacrifice a bit of potential sofa space to ensure ample room for family gatherings. Our extendable dining table (2.4m) can comfortably seat up to 10 people when fully extended, making it perfect for hosting families and friends.
  • The cabinet from taobao was to match the arch behind, and sourcing a reasonably priced one locally proved to be challenging! Although more affordable, it comes with the potentially challenging downside of having very basic (essentially without) assembly instructions and some quality issues but overall it has proven to be the wiser choice, especially if you are the handy type.
  • We went with hanging lights due to the slightly higher ceilings, which allow the lighting to be lower and more focused on what's on the table. The mirrored bulbs prevent glares and create an almost shadowless tabletop, enhancing the dining experience, and for those who love taking flat-lay photos, this is a massive bonus point.
  • Thanks for reading our post! It took us a while and A LOT of shopping to find furniture that would fit our aesthetic ideals without cramping up the (already) limited space but the efforts were worth the time. And always remember to measure twice so you only buy once :)
