Our Dining Space: Where Fluted Meets Herringbone 🍽️✨

Welcome to our dining space! This is where fondest memories are gathered around the table, a place where we gather with friends and family over warm meals, laughter and heartfelt conversations. Comfort, design and sitting capacity are three criteria that were mandatory in our selection of a dining table. We were clear we wanted a spacious table that can comfortably sit 7-8 pax. As for the design, we wanted a table that is not only stylish but also matches the japandi theme of our house. After visiting several furniture stores, we were lucky to chance upon Castlery’s Limited Edition Sloane Marble Dining Table (180cm). Sloane's marble tabletop exudes a warm, earthy charm with its natural veins and swirls. Paired with honey oak fluted panel legs, it perfectly complements our herringbone vinyl flooring. Castlery had only released 12 of this Limited Edition piece which comes with their gold plated 10th Anniversary emblem and we had secured the second last piece. Honestly, we can’t be happier to own this timeless and elegant dining piece that is not only stunning, but also heavy and sturdy! To complete our dining table, we paired it with Castlery’s Simone Performance Boucle Chairs and a bench that we sourced from Taobao. Simone's stunning sculptural silhouette and spill-resistant boucle seats set the scene for effortless hosting at home. Not only is the chair sturdy, it also comes with gold legs that look luxurious and complements our vinyl flooring. In order to have a flexible and cozy sitting arrangement when hosting our guests, we settled for a dining bench on one side of the table. This bench had caught our eye at The Happy Place. It was listed at ~$1.8 k which was a tad pricey. Henceforth, we sourced Taobao and were thrilled to find a piece of similar resemblance at $362! We were able to customise it to 180cm and select the boucle fabric of the seat. This mid-toned warm wood bench with a luxurious boucle seat truly adds a little extra luxury and comfort to our dining space, fitting our theme perfectly! To inject a touch of vibrancy, we applied Wallhub’s metallic textured paint on our dining wall. This textured finish creates a cohesive look, seamlessly intertwining with our warm wood furnishings. It no doubt creates a sophisticated backdrop for our dining experiences where we gather and enjoy our meals with our loved ones. Hanging above our dining table is this pair of rose pendant lights. These caught our eyes when we visited Sol Luminare’s showroom. They were displaying these pendant lights in 3 sizes at a price of $1.5k to $4k ranging from the smallest to biggest one. Looking to narrow down our costs, we yet again sourced Taobao and were happy to find similar pieces at ~$100-$200! Even the product webpage was exact to Sol Luminaire’s listing. It is impressive how Taobao offered such uncanny resemblances at less than a fraction of the cost, making it a practical choice without compromising on style. Who doesn’t love a statement island? Adjacent to our dining table will be our curved fluted kitchen island. We love the natural beauty of the fluted oak wood slats and vulcan marble top which add depth and character to our dining space. Not only does it has a storage space which we will elaborate further in our later posts, it also doubles up as a highly functional platform where we can prep our food and lay a sumptuous buffet spread for our guests! Food that warms the soul~ Here’s a splendid 9 course buffet spread for our guests! A large dining table coupled with adjustable tri-colored rose pendant lights create a cozy and inviting atmosphere for our loved ones to gather over warm home-cooked meals. Being able to adjust the lighting to suit the ambiance adds a nice touch of flexibility and warmth to our dining space. It is undeniably a perfect setting for memorable gatherings! Table Matter’s Blue Wave Collection, featuring the Seigaiha pattern, brings a timeless Japanese aesthetic to our table, evoking the serene beauty of ocean waves. This choice harmoniously complements our Japandi theme, blending Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian simplicity. The practicality of these tablewares being microwave-safe, oven-safe, and dishwasher-safe ensures convenience without compromising elegance. Adding Ototo’s playful dinosaur ladles and scoops not only injects a whimsical charm but also aligns seamlessly with our dining ambiance. With these, dining is never boring! Here’s a vivid picture captured in our home where fluted meets herringbone! Aside from Castlery’s marble dining table and our curved fluted island, our dining space also comprise of Cancan Furnishing’s Brighton Round Dining Table with Terrazzo Top. The fluted panel legs of these 3 exquisite dining pieces blend harmoniously with the herringbone pattern of our vinyl flooring. It evokes a sense of sophisticated design and aesthetic balance in our home. A common question we get from family and friends will be why we have two dining tables. This is because both of us wanted to have our own cosy corner where we can dine comfortably and enjoy the latest netflix series right in front of us! Cancan Furnishing’s 1.1m Brighton Round Dining Table stands at a comfortable distance from our 75 inch Samsung Frame TV. This sets just the right mood and cosy ambience for us, a perfect solution for our dining and Netflix needs. Albeit not a good habit! 🤣 The perfect view of our living room from our cosy corner! Not only does Cancan furnishing’s Brighton Table functions as a dining table, it also offers ample space for our miscellaneous (Eg. prepping angbaos for the little ones 🤪) Its round surface is perfect for meals and games, accommodating large gatherings when our Sloane Marble Dining Table isn't enough. The coordination of the grey white terrazzo tabletop with our coffee table from Forty Two adds a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing touch to our living room. Having our fish tank right beside also adds another charming element to our dining experience. It brings joy and a sense of companionship as our goldfish will always swim towards us whenever we sat down, probably anticipating to be fed too! 😄
