  • Hello and welcome to another episode of “Before And After” of our home.😆✨ This week we’ll be looking at our entryway. As you can see, our entryway is actually part of the living and dining area. It’s all just one big combined space really haha. We have our closed shoe cabinet to hide all our (my) shoes. Beside it we have a shoe bench that we sit on to put on shoes before leaving home. The boxes below it hides our frequently worn shoes without the shoes sticking out like eyesores.
  • My mum was the one that helped us to do this shoe cabinet when we first bought the house. We actually didn’t choose the colour or design and it was all done by my mum as a house warming gesture. Luckily the colour aligns with the bright and airy theme our home has now so we didn’t have to make any changes to it.🥹
  • The cabinet hides the DB box in our home and also hides the mess which are my shoes. Again, out of sight and out of mind.😌👍🏻
  • Next up is our digital lock. We were actually late to the digital lock game hahaha. Previously we lived like Neanderthals with the old school physical lock and keys until we realised everyone has a digital or smart lock.😂 Lucky for us, Hafele is one of our clients and we did a barter trade. Chose this model and we’ve been loving it ever since! One of the reasons we chose this model was because it allowed us to set a one-time password on the app. We find this function super helpful when we need our friends’ help for certain home emergencies while we’re away overseas. Now let’s go down memory lane and look at some before photos.🤭
  • This was at the very start of our home transformation journey. At the start, we didn’t have a clear vision in mind, be it with the colour theme or even having a theme hahaha. But better to start somewhere than to not start at all.😉👍🏻 We added the bookshelf next to the shoe bench as I did not want to have a disconnect between the entry area and the rest of the house. Wanted the whole area to flow seamlessly from entryway to living and dining areas, and finally to the balcony.
  • Added some jokes here and there back when I was funny. Husband said I was lame hahaha.🥲
  • Styled the shelf bit by bit. Went through a crazy plant phase during Covid period. Killed many because clearly they weren’t getting enough sun on the shelf and I have since shifted all my plants to the balcony. I refused to accept that I didn’t have green fingers, instead I choose to think that those plants couldn’t keep up with the challenging conditions of my home.🤣 Now it’s about keeping whatever plants I have alive and those that made it are thriving hehe. RIP to those plants that didn’t make it tho.🥲🫶🏻
  • A wider angle view of our ugly before.
  • After shifting almost all my plants out to the balcony, I had to fill up the empty spaces on the shelves. Did up the shelves bit by bit and also had a clearer picture of what we liked in terms of colour and theme.
  • Couldn’t find a proper before photo of this shoe bench so this screen grab from my ig home highlights will have to do.😆 The grey cushion cover constantly annoyed me as it didn’t fit into the new colour scheme. Tried finding new shoe bench to replace it but couldn’t find one that I liked or the dimensions didn’t fit in this specific area.☹️
  • Decided to try and change the colour of the cushion instead. Tried dying with a fabric dye but that was a massive failure so we shall not talk about that.🤫 The next idea I thought of was to use a cloth to cover the cushion part. So I searched for a suitable cloth with the right colour and texture that I liked. This is the Teddy Fleece Fabric from Spotlight that is sold by per metre. I got 2 metres to have extra in case I screwed up hahaha.
  • The after!✨ Love how the change in the colour of the cushion instantly makes it look like a different shoe bench. And now my OCD was satisfied as the colour fits with the rest of the home.🥹 But then…..the shoes below started to look like a mess and annoyed me.😂
  • Cai Png approved my diy project immediately hehe.
  • So to make it look neater, we got some minimal storage boxes from Iuiga.
  • Now every thing looks neat and tidy. Cai Tou also approves of my diy project haha.
  • Another change we made was the wall art. To highlight the wall art we also added the wall light. This spot didn’t have any electrical points so I got this rechargeable LED light. It’s stick on so no drilling was required and when it runs out of power, you just have to plug out the circular light part and charge it with a USB cable.
  • Changed the wall art again because previous one was too small for this space. By now you see that change is also a recurring theme in this home.😂
  • Another angle of the entryway. We still have the “Our Happy Place” board from our before pictures lying around somewhere at home so if anyone wants to take it off our hands, we’re more than willing to give it away for free. Just because it didn’t suit our home doesn’t mean it doesn’t suit others. Reach out to us if you’re interested!🫶🏻 We’ve reached the end of this post and once again thanks for coming along this journey with us. See you next week for the next episode hehe!🌚🌝
  • Here’s Count Catula and his Vampurrer as bonus for scrolling to the end hehe. ❤️
