  • Welcome to HomeatLush; a doggo and her 2 hooman serfs live in a cosy 1,055sqft 3 bedder EC in Fernvale! In August 2023, we finally got the keys to our new home and kicked off a whirlwind renovation adventure. Fast forward two months, and we’ve turned the place into our cozy haven, with $60,000 of renovation magic and another $30,000 splurged on furniture and gadgets. Though our mortgage baggage might make our wallets a bit nervous, we’re having fun hunting for great deals and stretching every dollar to make our new place feel just right.
  • Moving into an 8-year-old development was a bit like inheriting a perfectly seasoned canvas. T The previous owner, an interior designer, had already nailed the flooring and lighting, and the minimal built-in carpentry meant I didn’t have to go crazy with hacking. I inherited some fantastic features that I absolutely adore, so the real challenge was finding clever ways to build on these to make the space truly mine. It’s been a fun journey of blending the old with the new to create a home that feels just right for me! We’ve gone cosmopolitan for this space; think black, white, grey, dark wood and stone. It was tough deciding on the theme; I always thought we veered towards wabi-sabi or muji. After a lot of Pinterest and scrolling, we realised we preferred the cosmopolitan feel a lot more. As such, our space features cosmopolitan living with nods to contemporary and industrial nuances. We try to soften that contemporary and industrial feel with relaxed soft furnishing. Read on as we share little snapshots of this space we call home!
  • We have quite an interesting layout; we have a balcony entrance concept; the very first for ECs. We enter the unit via the balcony which also doubles as an extension of the living and dining space. This space is still very much work in progress; we have plans to transform this into a small green corner!
  • We have grand plans to install Ziptrak to increase our living space! However, we’ve hit a brief pause because the building is scheduled for repainting soon. Once that’s sorted, we’ll be thrilled to get started on transforming this space into something even better!
  • A spot for a slice-of-life conversation. As we enter the glass sliding doors, we step into our open living and dining space. We host a lot here; so a huge table is a necessity. Our idea of a great evening would be having our favourite people over; huddled at this very table over great food and conversations!
  • This unit gets a lot of natural light coming in so we did not need to invest much in additional lighting. We also inherited some stylish downlights and gorgeous cove lighting, which helped us save quite a bit on lighting expenses.
  • I always knew we wanted natural wooden table as a centrepiece for this space. This got us on the quest to find a piece that’s beautiful yet affordable, and we finally found it in JB! I will be sharing more about our little adventure in getting this table in future posts!
  • The other feature of this dining space would be this black brick feature wall that introduces texture and an urban edge. Also introducing a very unimpressed doggo, Bailey, the queen of this household.
  • Life happens in the living room. We have chosen to furnish this place with loose furniture instead of having a lot of built in carpentry as we preferred the flexibility to change up the look of this space by switching up furniture and moving things around.
  • Our windows overlook the lush canopy; giving off the little treehouse vibe. It has always been a childhood dream to stay in a treehouse, no thanks to Enid Blyton. I figure this would be the closest I could get to my dream. We attempted to recreate the Gold Class experience with the electrical recliner from Nova Furnishing.
  • This is also Bailey’s favourite view; she calls this her Pup-sung TV.
  • This is her favourite lounge spot, snoozing away while basking in that ray of sunshine that peaks through.
  • The downside to loose furniture would be that it might not fit that spot perfectly; afterall it was not tailored to fit. However, we found the solution to this by having an adjustable TV console from Urban Mood. This allowed us to adjust the length of the console to fit perfectly into our living room.
  • This little corridor brings us to the other spots in this space. It is also Bailey’s running track.
  • Cooking is an adventure, and my kitchen is my launch pad This is the very spot where the heartiest meals are churned out from. I appreciate all the carpentry as this means more storage for the many kitchen appliances I would predict myself to have. I’m a huge sucker for kitchen tools, dining ware and little kitchen knick knacks so we definitely need more room to house all of that.
  • The developer had included a glass panel but we have chosen to remove it. The intention for this very spot is to have our little coffee corner; the very next item on the shopping list would be a coffee machine. The concept would be this little hole in the wall coffee stand, serving out caffeine fixes for our guests.
  • Our little entertainment room! The initial intention for this space was a study. That, however, changed with this housewarming gift, this automatic mahjong table. This turned out to be the spot that is the most utilised; we often have friends coming over for mahjong nights. As such, we decided to transform this room into our entertainment cave. Nothing better than mahjong over Netflix or Spotify!
  • We also had plans for a walk in wardrobe. However, due to structural constraints, we were not able to hack down the wall between the master bedroom and walk in wardrobe. So we had to make do with a separate room for my wardrobe; which I’ve since termed walk in wardroom 😂
  • Building my playground one outfit at a time! I’ve a ballooning wardrobe, so I requested for more wardrobe space to house all the clothes. We also built up a like cranny for my bags.
  • In addition to being a wardrobe, this is also where I workout. Fully utilizing my wall mirror to check on form.
  • Suds and serenity. Our guest bathroom! We tried to use different tiles to bring some fun into this small bathroom. Livingstone Nero tiles for the floor, Statuario Superiore Rett for the walls and a touch of Edimaxastor Golden Age Grey Circ Ret to break that monotony.
  • We have chosen Hansgrohe for the sanitary ware and it indeed was a splurge. But absolutely no regrets! We are totally enjoying the showers here.
  • The perfect place to forget the world and just be. We’ve decided to keep the master bedroom minimalist. Other than the bed, we have kept everything else out. The intention is to have minimal here; allowing us to clear our minds as we prep to unwind for the night.
  • With little distractions here, it allows for us to have pillow talk before we snooze.
  • We are huge fans of comfy bedsheets and we are constantly on the hunt for THE BEST bedsheets. We have definitely amassed a collection of sheets. A platform with drawers was definitely necessary to store all those sheets. We have chosen to go with Jenning’s Baby Touch for all the laminate here. Made in Italy, these laminate makes for a sophisticated satin matte look and feel. We definitely would be looking to share more about these laminate and introduce our sheets collection in the posts to come.
  • No brownie points for guessing who’s the biggest occupier of the bed. In this household, you fight for your spot. Under most scenarios, you snooze you lose. Here, you move, you lose your spot to snooze! 😴
  • Ax’s favourite spot in the house. He’s a huge fan of long showers so we are appreciative of roomy toilets.
  • Reflections and revelations in the bathroom; the place to wash away the trials of the day. Like our guest bathroom, we’ve introduced different tiles and textures to inject more fun into our master bathroom. Decided to splurge on tiles. A feature wall is formed with Tu Duero tiles from Spain; inspired by the rhythmic movement of water and characterized by the repetition of geometries with different radius that cause a gradual and irregular game of light and shadow. Complemented by the Temple Stone Plow Ret from Italy with realistic of vein cut travertine.
  • Cleaning day essentials: a good playlist and my favorite cleaning supplies! Dust bunnies, be gone! Welcome to my little houseware store! Much needed space to house my cleaning and toilet supplies that I’ve stashed! Also showcasing my cleaning aids, I cannot live without any of the 3 vacuum cleaners!
  • Laundry; the neverending story. My most dreaded chore. I decided to move the washer and dryer from the kitchen into the utility toilet to free up precious kitchen space. A Steigen was never in the plans. I wound up using the space in the walk in wardrobe to dry my laundry cause I didn’t wanna watch the weather if I hang my laundry up in the balcony. Over time, it started to get annoying cause it’s hard to move between laundry to get my clothes. Now my laundry is out of sight and no longer getting in my way. Perhaps one day I’ll not detest laundry as much.
  • Thanks for joining us on our little house tour! Everything is a work in progress here; we are constantly looking for ways to switch things up. Excited to share the journey with all of you! To the many adventures ahead!
