  • Welcome to the most intimate and sacred area of the house (other than the bathrooms of course)! This is our master bedroom which is located right at the end of the walkway. For the bedrooms, we adopted a different theme as compared to the living/dining area. First noticeable difference is the wooden vinyl floorings as opposed to the cool grey concrete-looking vinyl you have seen in our dining area (refer to our dining/living post for more details). For the bedrooms, as it is a space for resting and recharging, we opted for a warm and very minimalist (can be read as almost empty) design. 😂 Fun facts: The renovation works for the bedrooms are minimal as we chose to retain the built-in wardrobes (sliding doors) given they are still in good condition. This is one of the ways we try to keep our budget down and avoid spending on unnecessary and costly works that add only incremental satisfaction.
  • Don’t underestimate this small and mighty window in our master bedroom. If we want ventilation and air flow throughout the house, the simple solution is to open this window and doors will be slamming in no time. 😂 Not even kidding with how windy the unit is which we are not complaining about. This window also offers some gorgeous sunrise view perfect for early birds! Fun facts: The window has a layer of film applied by the seller to reduce the direct sunlight, therefore in daylight settings, the window appear darker than the rest. We did not choose to put any blinds or curtains here as we simply love the natural day or night light coming through the window.
  • DAY - We wanted our master bedroom to be a calming, peaceful and serene place for us. We decided to keep it simple and minimal, away from the clutter and distractions. There is no tv, no paintings or wall arts and not even a vanity table. The only renovation decision we made was to paint the wall behind the bed frame in cream rather than keeping it in classic white. The cream feature wall adds a touch of warmth and elegance, making the room feel inviting and bright. We got a medium firm king-sized Maxcoil bed that we have been loving it every single day. In fact, we look forward to sleeping on our bed, or sometimes just having a chat in the room. There is also a small balcony in the master bedroom which offers a nice outdoor retreat, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or a breath of fresh air. Due to the ongoing construction works right in front of our development, we have limited use of the space now. To enhance the minimalist and cozy vibe, we opted for these soft linen S-fold curtains from @everydaycurtains, which add a flowing touch to the balcony doors, allowing natural light to filter in gently. This works for us as we are not particularly sensitive to light but if you are, then make sure you pick your blinds or curtains material carefully.
  • This is the reflection cast upon by the small and mighty side windows. 😍 When we sleep in on weekends (i.e. 8am), this is the first view welcoming us. What a cozy way to start our day!
  • Our gorgeous S-fold curtains deserve a photo on its own! This is the day look when we draw the curtains fully; you can see that there’s still quite a fair amount of light coming in. There is already an existing curtain pelmet in the master bedroom so we need not have to redo it. We opted for a single layer curtains for 2 reasons: 1) we don’t require a day vs night curtains as we don’t normally spend time in the bedroom other than sleeping 2) given the pelmet width, and our strong preference for S-fold curtains, it is not sufficient to do 2 layers. Do plan ahead with your ID if you are thinking of doing S-fold with day and night curtains!
  • NIGHT - This is how our bedroom looks like after sun sets. It is a simple room which is designed for what it is meant to be and we like it that way. On days where we feel like we want to enjoy a little night breeze, we open up the balcony doors and let the cool wind in while we laze around on the bed either chatting or watching some YouTube videos. There’s no better way to unwind the day ☺️ Follow us on IG @tanhoms for more home contents!
