  • The view we’ll never get bored of. But also requires constant de-cluttering as that’s also the view our guests are greeted to when they step into our house.
  • We knew we wanted an open kitchen from the start and 1.5 years in, not a day we regret making this decision! Our kitchen layout was more of a square so we only planned for a top & bottom cabinet on one side. We could also fit a 1.8m island with bottom storage and it serves as an extra prep space. We definitely have to fully maximise the limited storage we have but with proper organisation, we’ve been surviving well! The island is truly multi-functional - from breakfast/lunch, coffee, drinks, we also occasionally take video calls there too!
  • We went with a bold shade of green for our kitchen cabinets and we wanted something different for our backsplash - also considering that it’ll be easy to maintain. We did a few rounds of tile shopping before we found these mosaic tiles from Soon Bee Huat. Never bored of this view! To add a bit of quirkiness, spot the different middle knobs on our cabinet! We wanted to look for something that uniquely represents each of us but it was taking a while so this pineapple knobs came in the perfect shade and adding some HUATS to our kitchen too.
  • We didn’t like the idea of having our fridge “confined” in a space like what most people would do so we had to do space planning and ensure that our side-by-side fridge had plenty of space. That would mean that we couldn’t store things above the fridge but who wants to hide things so far up right? We’re better off without the clutter.
  • We got inspired while shopping for our Ruhens water dispenser and had to check with our ID if it was possible. Our tips: opt for a thin profile countertop, it is more likely that you will be able to reuse the extra pieces for your sink cover. We did not have much countertop space left and sometimes you want the convenience of preparing your ingredients next to the sink. Pop in the sink covers and work your magic! With an open concept kitchen, the dining area, kitchen and living room are no longer confined to their individual space. And not forgetting the joy of being able to be part of the conversation whilst busy cooking up a storm 😉
