  • Hello everyone! Welcome back to this week's post which features our open concept kitchen! Ever since we started browsing for home inspiration, we knew that we wanted an open kitchen and I'm so happy we managed to pull it off! In order to get an open kitchen, we hacked away the walls which created more walking space and made the kitchen appear more spacious. The unique feature of our kitchen would definitely be the island which acts as a centrepiece. We use it both for meal preparation as well as dining with our family.
  • Our ID built up a false wall (behind the fridge) and open shelves for us to display our things. Our fridge is from LG and the colour of it definitely caught our eyes. I love how we have ample display racks to showcase our overseas collections and cabinets to store our bowls and plates etc. We also display our commonly used appliances like the rice cooker, air fryer and toaster. We intentionally placed them here so that it's easier to reach when needed, also coincidentally the appliances are all white!
  • A close up of some of our collection. I love the ice cream cups from Weekend Plans! Super aesthetic!
  • This is where all the food prep and cooking takes place! One key feature would be our backsplash. We found the design really unique and love how it complements the brown and white countertop. We opted for a hybrid gas stove and induction because we couldn't decide which to get HAHA. We wanted induction because it cooked faster and was easier to clean. However, gas stove provided the "wok hey" taste and we prioritised that too. Hence, after much thought, we decided to get hybrid! We have ample storage space and also placed all the cutleries and pots/pans near the stove for easy access.
  • A close up of the oven and induction hobs!
  • One thing I love was that the drying rack was intentionally lowered which made putting plates and cutlery so much easier! ( I don't need to tiptoe!) New homeowners may want to consider discussing this with your ID so that you make washing and cleaning up much easier!
  • POV: You are standing at the service yard ;)
  • I'm glad that the kitchen turned out exactly the way we envisioned it. We love that our open concept kitchen is a good blend of aesthetics and functionality, and allows us to stay connected with our family members even while busy cooking or washing up. Thanks for reading and I hope you feel inspired to create your dream kitchen too!
