Welcome to our mini functional service yard! One of the first few things we installed for our house was the service yard window to keep the rain out! As you can tell, we kept the original door and windows in between the kitchen and service yard from HDB. We didn’t see a need to change it as it was quite nicely done up by HDB. Here in the service yard, we house many essential items of the house! To the left of the service yard, we have our mini-kitchen extension. Here, we house our Joyoung Oven and Ninja Foodi 8-in-1! We mainly use the ninja foodi for the pressure cook function (as we have another Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer placed in the kitchen that can air fry, bake, reheat and dehydrate). As the pressure cooker will let out hot steam, we thought it was also practical to place it near the windows instead. To fully utilise the space, we got an oven stacker rack so that we can place additional items on top. Instead of customising built-in carpentry storage racks, we got this open-shelf racks from IKEA! Open-shelf was for practicality, due to the limited space in the service yard area to have a closed shelf area. In the other levels of our racks, we store other less used kitchen items. We also used a rattan basket to store our plastic bags for rubbish disposal! To the right of our service yard is our washing machine area. We got a 9kg washer! We used a movable storage rack to store laundry items such as laundry beads, colour catcher sheets, fragrance booster, pegs, laundry nettings. We had the debate whether to get an automated laundry rack or dryer. Ultimately, we went for an automated laundry rack – because the electrical bills will be cheaper. We were also mindful that not all clothes were suitable to be placed in the dryer! We got an affordable automated laundry rack from Kyson. It has double scissors arm, built-in LED light (that functions as the light for the service yard area), dual fan blower, dual heater and UV light function. It comes with extendable rods and also additional rods at each side that can be pulled down for heavy load laundry days! We got a high bar stool to place in the service yard/kitchen area as well for admiring the views, or to sit and wait while food is cooking.
