  • Welcome back to our weekly posts! This week, we are going to share about our charging pods - our bedroom! From the head start, we knew that the 13.9sqm that HDB gave for our MBR was insufficient and we needed to expand it for additional storage space. With that, we semi-hacked one of the rooms for extra wardrobe space! We also contemplated lime washing the walls in our bedroom, but deemed it unnecessary since it was going to just be a "for our eyes only" room. But the thought of doing is budding in my mind again recently (hehe :P) What do you guys think? Should we make this our next project?
  • We intentionally kept our bedroom's layout to the minimal, with only our bed and a standing mirror as loose furniture. There's room for many other add-ons, which we might do so with time! There is also an emphasis on lights to give our room a dim, relaxing vibe. We opted for LED strips for the wardrobe area, and ceiling + bedside lights only. We also self assembled the bed frame - which was the best plan B from our ideal of a platform bed but WOW @ CARPENTRY COSTS lol. It was quite a good buy, since it met all of our requirements; low height, minimalistic, no headboard!
  • The area where the mirror now stands is where we initially factored for our vanity, which we delayed purchasing as we couldn't find anything that we feel fits our room nicely. We grew to like the spaciousness of the room without extra furnitures and didn't find it a hassle to get ready in our toilets, and decided to forgo this as a whole.
  • We are not fans of curtains - therefore we opted for blinds throughout our home! These are motorised blinds that we got from Taobao which allows up to 90% blackout effect. 90% works for us as it allows light to pass through without completely blocking out all light - a false perception of it still being night hahaha.
  • Here's the blinds in approximately 80% blackout effect!
  • Scents are also very important to us - a good, relaxing scent can help us fall into deep sleep easily! Diffusers, room sprays, and candles are all around our house - spot them in the future posts! Having a candle warmer was a no-brainer, since it helps avoid having a burnt wick, soot, and takes away the worry of flame issues!
  • Ending the post with a close-up detail shot of our bedside light which we love! That's all for our very simple bedroom! Stay tuned for our next post to see more of the part of the house that we love most ^^
