  • Hey there, we are A&W managing our Soh Tedious account! We have 4 growing up children with us, hence you could imagine the amount of tedious work with all the planning, packing, moving and unpacking process into a new home. So, welcome to our bright cozy scandinavian theme with some wood element as we want to create a smoothing environment for our family. A little bit on our family background, in the last 3 years both Mr and Mrs became self-employed. Most of the time, Mr would be out managing his work, whilst Mrs would be wfh + managing the kids and the endless chores. Our oldest child is now 10, followed by 8, 6 and our youngest at 3yo. With these age groups, it has clear that we need to move from our 4rm BTO to min. a 5room resale to cater for everyone needs.
  • Our 5-room resale HDB located at AMK was a very clear decision because we knew that we need a bigger living space for our family + location to our schooling children.
  • This is our original floorplan. We love that it comes with a separated space area for living and dining. Each area has sufficient space for its purposes! House hunting journey was a breeze for us, once to filter down to our main priorities. The challenge we encountered was that, there isnt any unit available in the area we are looking for. We waited for 4 months to chance upon this unit and there was nothing much for us to complain about. The space and location are what we are looking for.
  • We are probably the 3rd owner taking over this unit which the previous owner had been staying for 30 over years. There is definitely so much we need to do and have decided to overhaul the entire unit as you could see from our new floorplan. We trusted our ID and the reno process to them because they were greatly referred by our love ones and friends! We are pleasantly surprised that they managed to complete this big project within 3 months and even able to handover the place to us 1 week earlier! As you could see from our floorplan, we hacked quite a handful of walls and rebuild some to reconstruct our layout to cater for our needs and growing up children. A few amazing surprises are: 1. we have two main doors due to the upgrading of lift by HDB. 2. Hacking away storeroom and relocate it at our living area These configuration just makes so much sense for us. We have received many compliments on our home reno and also telling us that the price we paid were reasonable! Glad to have trusted our networks who attested to their service and reliability.
  • This used to be the living room area but we converted it to our dining space. With the good flow from the kitchen after we are done cooking. We love hosting family and friends into our humble home frequently. So it is not a negotiable item when it comes to choosing our dining table. So pleased to have our love at first sight 2.1m single slab America walnut dining table. It fits so well to cater enough running space for the kids and housing our guests over meals + good quality chats!
  • We also intentionally segregated our balcony and living space using two differentiated tiles. With the help from our ID's suggestion, we created a curvy balcony floor tiles to welcome anyone. Creating the elusion of smoothing effect from entering into our space.
  • This living space used to be one of the common bedroom. We hacked half of the wall down and keep the other half, so that it acts as a divider for our dining and living space. It was also an intentional decision to keep distraction away from the kids during meal times, so we could really sit down and listen to each other. But trust us, its tough work. haha. We believe all parents out there are trying their best to parent as well!
  • During our floorplan discussion, we toyed around the idea for settle to have this corner for kids activity or wind down area. While our renovation progress, we realized that it might not be practical in terms of space utilization and money. Hence, we decided to drop the settle and have it with loose furniture. It turns out so well because we have that space for our children's playing corner and creativity activity. We could also watch out for them while catching our shows too.
  • One of the unique reno designs that we had, would be our storeroom. We decided to hacked away the original storeroom so that we could make more space for the common room to house the 4 children. This is more for future planning, as the girls would most likely be growing up together in one room. So having a bigger room space is a wise decision (so far). On the other hand, we definitely need more storage space around our home to store all our items for 6 pax. After much discussion, we created a seamless door for our new storeroom which is located in the center of our home 2.0. Its so much more easier for us to see our things in a glance and of course retrieving it out from the space. There are so much more that we want to share but will keep our first post short for new homeowners to shotlist some ideas and concepts. For more idea, please stay tune for our next post! Thank you home community and readers!
