There was a common theme that ran through most of the houses that we saved on IG/Pinterest - seems like we were very attracted to organic materials, and like the cozy rustic look of the farmhouse but updated with modern elements for the contrast! These were main inspo pics that we had that we tried to stay true to! 1) Wooden ceiling beams are so signature of such rustic houses. It instantly adds the cozy vibes so we decided to bite the bullet for it + act as a false ceiling to install some downlights too! 2) Countertops with heavy marble veining! We totally love the look of such marble hence we replicated it for our home! We also loved the concept of that bifold window and the dark bottom kitchen cabinetry and bar counter here. 
3) The look of the contrasting darker coloured bottom kitchen cabinets was so alluring. We knew that we will not forgo on shaker style cabinets somewhere because it is very lovely simple detail that adds alot of interest to the carpentry. 4) For the areas that are more open (e.g. the study room for us), lattice style glass door would add such a perfect modern element to the rustic farmhouse vibe! 
5) Again, love the combination of dark grey cabinets + brass gold hardware + marble white countertops. Our own kitchen is mirroring this quite well! 6) We also loved the idea of having a dining pendant light, and the geometric lines of this pendant light we felt gave a very modern element to it which ties in closely with the modern blacks/glass elements throughout the house. Our final dining pendant light didn't veer too far away from this!
