  • Hi! Welcome to our Week 2 post: Renders vs Reality, and we're showcasing the final render of our master bathroom.
  • Two things we were definitely sure of when planning our master bathroom was that we wanted to utilise the colours blue and orange (terracotta). This is inspired by the beach colours of the Mediterranean Sea - and after all, our home's theme is 'Beach Villa'. We love the boldness and wanted to go all out! In this render, we used white tiles with the blue and orange and it felt like we were holding back!
  • This render was a bit closer to our vision, but we were still bothered by the sudden whiteness, so in the final render (see picture 1), we replaced the white tiles with a light beige, that combined the warmth of our orange terracotta tiles with a cleaner finish.
  • REALITY 1! We absolutely love how it turned out in real life! The orange terracotta mixes so well with the blue, and we added accessories to tie them together. I've tagged the tiles we used for your reference :) P.S the lower beige tiles are no longer available. They were originally part of the clearance stock from Soon Bee Huat.
  • For a more cohesive look, I chose to use basic silverware for the taps, and added another orange/terracotta element - my stone basin!
  • For more drama, we also added this rare alabaster lamp. We found this gem of a light piece in Lights Zone in Balestier and fell in love. Admittedly, it's a bit expensive, but when you see it up close and personal, it's quite beautiful. We felt that such a bold bathroom like ours needed an equally dramatic light piece. One thing we also love is playing with materials, and Alabaster stone is not something you usually find in homes in Singapore.
  • For the shower area, we chose to go with these ocean blue tiles. Our toilet fixtures are from Grohe, and since Grohe is quite a premium brand, we invested in using Grohe only in our master toilet. This is because we were really particular about water pressure and keeping water stains minimum, and we love the quality of Grohe silver. To keep our toiletries neatly, we also requested for a shower niche. Pro tip: Laying your subway tiles diagonally will cost a top-up, but this layout doesn't cost a top-up at all because it's still 'straight', but gives the illusion of angles. It's called fishbone.
  • Finally, we have this beautiful, large, statement mirror from HipVan. We fell in love with it in first sight actually and bought it on the spot! The house aesthetic wouldn't have been complete if we didn't have at least one wooden furniture in our bathroom.
