  • Hello hello from the Chans from @chanceuponchanshome !! Today we will deep dive into some considerations on how we decided on a monochrome theme for our kitchen. A black and white kitchen exudes class and timelessness, despite being slightly difficult to upkeep due to the laminate colours. However, black and white will never go wrong, right? This was in fact an impulsive decision, but we love it!
  • Please bear with us as we didn’t really get a same angle photo. But in reality, black and white works so well with our grey sintered stone countertop! We already chosen our sintered stone countertop, thus all we had to do was match the laminates with our countertop instead of the other way round. We only had eyes for this countertop hence this decision process was so much easier.
  • We will show some previous renders that we got from our ID at the end of this post. Our original HDB floor and wall tiles are in different shades of grey; we’re also lucky that our floor tiles are 60*60cm!!!! Our appliances and fittings are mainly in gunmetal, dark greyish, and black, hence it really did make sense to have our laminates in black and white too! 😍 We also paid extra money to extend our countertop out and have a fluted base so as to draw more attention to our simple monochrome kitchen design! ;)
  • Another POV of a monochrome design.
  • The white, black, grey and gallery view.
  • This is our first rendering. This top laminate is Mood Microcement (same as our bedroom). We were almost dam sure this was the one, thus we didn’t have any back up laminate. Lo and behold, it changed. 😂 What the Mrs didn’t like was the colour flow between the top cabinet, wall tiles and the bottom cabinet. We found it inconsistent and decided to forgo our favourite microcement series 😔
  • Keeping the microcement laminate in mind, we swapped the bottom cabinet’s colour to something greyish. Then we found it boring and too much grey!
  • It’s brighter and more airy but it felt really one dimensional.
  • That was how we decided on a monochrome theme. Did we do well? 🤭
