  • Welcome to our bathroom! Our BTO was built using the Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) technology, hence it came with tiles and shower fitting from HDB. Luckily for us, the tile design was quite nice, hence we kept them as it is and decided not to overlay the tiles. To keep costs low, instead of customising carpentry for the toilet cabinets, we bought off the shelves aluminium and stainless steel vanity cabinets which had top and bottom storage areas in order to keep more items out of sight.
  • For the common bathroom, to match the door frame colour, we got a dark brown honeycomb aluminium cabinet from TaoBao through a carousell seller (We bought from a carousell seller instead of direct shipping from TaoBao in order to reduce the risk of damaged items. For TaoBao direct deliveries, the buyer will have to bear the risk. However, as we were buying it through a middlemen seller, if there was any damage, we could still reject the goods and get the carousell seller to rectify.) We changed out the default HDB mesh panels for these acrylic barley-coloured panels and installed T5 light tubes in them for even lighting effect! Changing out to these acrylic panels was a must for us, as it helps to prevents insect and dust collection for easier maintenance in future. (Tip: To lower the cost, instead of purchasing from our main contractor/ third party vendor, we measure the panel sizes ourselves and went direct to Dama Trading to purchase the acrylic panels!)
  • We were not fond of top mount or undermount sinks for the toilet, hence we were on the look out for integrated sinks. Such integrated sinks facilitate easy cleaning as it is easier to wipe the countertop surface. There will also be no water pooling from water splashes on the countertop surface. To prevent further water pooling, we also placed a diatomite mat at the side to place our hand wash, toothbrush and toothpaste etc
  • We do not have any real plants in our house, hence we decorated the common bathroom display shelves area with some artificial plants for more greenery.
  • To make use of this corner area, we got off-the-shelves triangular bathroom racks.
  • We thought long and hard whether to add a shower screen area to separate the dry and wet area in the common bathroom. However, due to the placement of the toilet window and toilet door, we decided to forgo it. Hence, we have an open flexible area now in the common bathroom which is useful for household cleaning and laundry uses now. As for the master bathroom, as space allowed, we installed a shower glass screen with door (through a third party vendor) and with kerb to separate out the wet and dry area. We installed safety film on the glass panel as well to improve safety and prevent accidents.
  • To improve mood and ambience, we place reed diffusers in the toilet to disperse pleasant fragrance. Reed diffusers are safe to use and with low maintenance! Follow us on IG @ourbtohome for more home design tips and recommendations!
